1st Recorded Victim Of 9/11 Was Gay Catholic Priest + More News

Some news stories I thought worth your time as we head into the weekend:

The Advocate: The first recorded victim of 9/11 was a gay Catholic priest. Father Mychal Judge (above) served firefighters, AIDS patients, homeless people, and LGBTQ+ Catholics before walking into the North Tower on September 11, 2001.

Father Judge was also my hubby Michael’s priest when he was growing up in New Jersey.

JoeMyGod: I highly urge you to read Joe Jervis’s moving personal story of being in New York City the day of 9/11 attacks.

Gayety: Judge Judy is finally hanging up her robe after 30 years of daytime television drama. But she won’t be abandoning TV completely. She is stepping into the producer’s chair to launch “Adam’s Law,” a syndicated courtroom show starring her son, attorney Adam Levy. The series makes its debut on Sept. 14.

LGBTQ Nation: A lesbian police officer in New Jersey has filed a lawsuit saying male officers sexually harassed her & withheld support when she needed it most.

X: Michigan Senate candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed had the right answer to a question about gender-affirming care.

Washington Sun: The contractor who renovated the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool told the Trump administration that errors in its own work — not vandalism — had caused the pool’s blue liner to tear and break loose. Workers mistakenly layered two incompatible chemicals that caused paint on the pool liner to blister and peel.

CSPAN: A 9/11 widow demanded Trump stop shielding Saudis for their role in the World Trade Center attacks. It’s worth noting Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, has a $2 billion deal with the Saudi wealth fund.
