Should Rosie Launch Her Own Late Night Show? + More News

Some news items for you as we head into the new week:

• Variety: Rosie O’Donnell’s guest hosting stint for Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week went so well, folks are wondering if she could launch her own late night TV talk show. Some say the late night format is ready for ‘what’s next.’

• Them: In a lengthy sit-down interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Sam Smith opened up about rising to fame and coming out in their twenties.

• New Music: Singer-songwriter Sarah Vanderzon drops her new single, “Oh My Child.” The earthy folk/Americana track explores the bittersweet reality of growing up as Vanderzon reflects on the anxiety and uncertainty of stepping into adulthood. Who can relate?

• LGBTQ Nation: Brittany Boltinhouse — the now-dethroned Miss North Carolina USA — has filed a defamation lawsuit alleging the pageant defamed her over her own racist & transphobic posts. Gurl, sit down – you said what you said…

• Queerty: Ex-NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom tried hijacking a WNBA game with a transphobic trolling stunt and got escorted out by security instead.

• NPR: The Supreme Court paused a lower court’s ruling that blocked key directives from Donald Trump’s executive order to restrict mail-in voting for this fall’s midterm election in about two dozen states and Washington, D.C. But there are still legal and practical hurdles to overcome before Trump gets his way.

• X: At an event at the White House today, Education Sec. Linda McMahon falsely claimed “the Biden administration allowed schools to secretly transition students without parents knowledge.” Of all the things that never happened, this never happened the mostest.
