Trump On Falling Asleep At Meetings: “I’m Blinking”

Donald Trump, the oldest person ever sworn in as president, continues to face more and more questions about his health and how his advanced age might be affecting his ability to perform his duties.

A recent impromptu interview with the Wall Street Journal Trump addressed some of those questions and how he perceives his own care.

Among the topics covered:

• After several public events where he appeared to doze off on camera,  Trump insisted he wasn’t falling asleep. “I’ll just close [my eyes]. It’s very relaxing to me,” he told the Journal. “Sometimes they’ll take a picture of me blinking, blinking, and they’ll catch me with the blink.”

There’s video, though, Donald. It’s not “blinking.”

• Trump admits that he takes a higher dose of aspirin than his doctors have recommended, blaming that for the dark hand bruises that have generated questions about his health. “They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart.”

Trump’s physician told the Journal that Trump takes 325 milligrams of aspirin daily. But many experts say a “low dose” for blood-thinning purposes ranges from 75 to 100 milligrams and 81 milligrams is commonly recommended.

Trump’s skin is apparently so delicate that he bled after now-Attorney General Pam Bondi high-fived him at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee last year.

• After Trump mentioned undergoing an MRI in October, Barbabella corrected the record saying it was a CT scan done “to definitively rule out any cardiovascular issues.” Trump originally said he didn’t know what the scan was for.

Folks, I recently had an MRI done for a knee injury. I knew it wasn’t a CT scan, and I knew what it was for.

• Trump also admitted that besides waddling from a golf cart to a golf ball dropped by his caddy, he doesn’t care for exercise – “It’s boring.”

CNN covers more details from the report here.
