Some news items you might have missed:
• Broadway World: The pro-shot of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Merrily We Roll Along (above) will be released in movie theaters worldwide December 5, 2025.
• LGBTQ Nation: Puerto Rican Gov. Jenniffer González-Colón (R) has signed a bill banning gender-affirming care for trans youth under 21. The legislation bans both gender-affirming surgeries (which are rarely performed on minors anyway) and hormone therapy.
• New Music: Vocal powerhouse VINCINT drops his latest floor banger, “I Forgot.” During his debut performance of the song at MTV Live: Queer Music Week he shared, “For any ex in your life who has treated you badly, this song is for you.”
• BBC: The UK government has announced Britain will lower the voting age from 18 to 16 by the next national election as part of measures to increase democratic participation. Sixteen…???
• Small Talk: MTV has announced it’s bringing back 24/7 music videos – for one week only, from September 1 to 7.
• ABC7 in San Francisco: The White House plans to reopen Alcatraz, the former federal penitentiary. Alcatraz currently generates about $60 million in annual revenue, according to the National Park Service. Refurbishing the island and building a new prison would cost at least a quarter of a billion dollars.
