Some news items for you: • Eurovision Song Contest: Austria won this year’s mega-song competition as JJ (above), a 24-year-old countertenor from Vienna, combined elements of opera, techno and soprano in his song “Wasted Love.” The win is Austria’s third in the competition, following drag queen Conchita Wurst’s success in 2014 and Udo Juergens’ victory in 1966. • Erin In The Morning: A far-right federal judge in Texas with a record of aligning with the GOP’s most extreme legal positions ruled this week that Title VII no longer protects LGBTQ+ people from workplace discrimination. The decision directly contradicts the Supreme Court’s landmark 2020 ruling in Bostock v. Clayton County. • LGBTQ Nation: During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) explained how she came up with the “Trump or Trans” game she used to destroy Donald Trump and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in a congressional hearing. • The Guardian: A proposed rule change could the pave way for Donald Trump to fire statisticians employed to produce objective data on the economy whose figures prove politically inconvenient. #CookTheBooks • NBC News: Who would ever believe former Vice President Mike Pence would be one of the few Republicans around willing to openly criticize Donald Trump.
