Trump Isn’t Joking About A 3rd Term In White House

President Donald Trump did not dismiss the idea of pursuing a third term in the White House, despite the fact that the Constitution forbids it under the 22nd Amendment. In an exclusive interview with NBC News, he stated that there are ways to achieve this and emphasized that he was “not joking.” From NBC News:

“A lot of people want me to do it,” Trump said in a Sunday-morning phone call with NBC News, referring to his allies. “But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration.”

When asked whether he wanted another term, the president responded, “I like working.”

“I’m not joking,” Trump said, when asked to clarify. “But I’m not — it is far too early to think about it.”

When asked whether he has been presented with plans to allow him to seek a third term, Trump said, “There are methods which you could do it.”

NBC News asked about a possible scenario in which Vice President JD Vance would run for office and then pass the role to Trump. Trump responded that “that’s one” method.

The subject came up again in a Q&A on Air Force One. Y’all, if you think JD Vance is going to run for the White House, win, and then turn it over to Trump, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. As anyone who took any kind of civics class in high school knows, it takes a 66% majority vote in Congress or two-thirds of states agreeing to hold a constitutional convention to amend the Constitution. And then, 3/4s of the state legislatures have to approve the amendment. Not happening. During the NBC News interview, Trump also went into a delusional exaggeration of his approval ratings.
