Each year since 2010, the world observes Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) on March 31 to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people. Created by trans advocate Rachel Crandall, TDOV is meant to be a day to celebrate the lives of transgender people, while simultaneously acknowledging that due to discrimination, not every trans person can or wants to be visible.

There are an estimated 4.4 million transgender adults across the United States, according to the Human Rights Campaign. But only a minority of Americans say they know someone who’s transgender which makes accurate representation and public storytelling essential. TDOV serves as an opportunity to increase visibility. Here are some confirmed Transgender Day of Visibility 2025 events in the U.S.

Click here to read their responses. In just the first three months of 2025, a staggering 821 anti-trans bills have been introduced in state legislatures across the country. Plus, the Trump administration has targeted trans people through executive orders limiting trans people’s ability to obtain passports that accurately reflect their gender, attempting to reinstate a ban on trans military service members, and a number of other orders aimed at erasing trans people from public life.
