Some news items you might have missed: • New York Times: Lawmakers in Congress voted to pass a stopgap spending bill to avoid a federal shutdown through Dec. 20. The Senate vote was 78 to 18. The House vote was 341-82. All the “no” votes were Republicans. • Metro Weekly: Out pop music artist Chappell Roan keeps “clarifying” and “re-clarifying” her remarks about the 2024 election. Revisiting the topic is not making her look any better.

• The Advocate: A Grindr date went very wrong this past Sunday on NYC’s Upper East Side. At some point, the ‘date’ reportedly yelled, “I hate all people,” and began to stab his host. The host grabbed a kitchen knife and fought back. The attacker died and the host suffered major wounds. • DWTS: Convicted con artist Ana Delvey had a one word answer when asked what she would take away from her DWTS experience after being eliminated first. I feel for her pro-partner, out dancer Ezra Sosa, who deserves more screen time.

• Axios: Thousands of dockworkers at major ports along the East and Gulf coasts could launch a strike on Oct. 1, which would snarl the economy and presidential politics only weeks before the election. • Diaries 99: Out actor Andrew Scott (Ripley, All of Us Strangers) serves up some Tom of Finland-inspired looks in a new photo shoot for fashion magazine Diaries 99.
