Rape Investigation Of FL GOP Chair Expands To ‘Video Voyeurism’

In the last weeks of 2023, Florida GOP Chairman Christian Ziegler and his wife Bridget found themselves mired in controversy after a woman with whom the Zieglers had previously had sexual three-ways accused Christian of rape. During a November 2 police interview, Ziegler provided video footage he took of the sexual encounter with his accuser. He claims it proves he didn’t “rape” her. But the video is now backfiring on the GOP chair as police say he may have violated state law prohibiting video voyeurism (recording another person without their consent), a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison. https://twitter.com/FLCTRGA/status/1742154333028786184 From The Florida Trident:

Ziegler’s attorney, Derek Byrd, told police during the same interview the woman sent an Instagram message to Ziegler shortly after the sexual encounter asking him if he’d shown the video to Bridget Ziegler. Byrd said the message was sent in “vanish mode.”

The woman, however, told police she never sent such an Instagram message and had no knowledge Ziegler had recorded the encounter. Bridget Ziegler also said she knew nothing about the video, Sarasota police Det. Megan Buck wrote in the affidavit.

“Detectives spoke with both the victim and Ziegler’s wife,” wrote Buck, a veteran detective who serves on the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force. “The victim did not give Ziegler consent to take this video of them having sex.

It’s worth noting that Bridget Ziegler is a co-founder of the so-called “Moms for Liberty” which pushes a virulently anti-LGBTQ agenda. But it’s fine for her to kick-ball-change with a woman in private…? Since the story of the rape investigation emerged on Nov. 30, the case has led to national attention on the Zieglers, calling the Republican power couple hypocritical for pushing conservative “family values,” calling for book-bans, and championing an anti-LGBTQ agenda in the nation’s public schools while engaging in sexual threesomes. To be clear, I have no problem with what folks do in their bedrooms. But don’t have it one way in your private sex life then attack the LGBTQ community in public. For the record, Christian Ziegler denies the rape allegation. https://twitter.com/FLCTRGA/status/1732877144953389272 https://twitter.com/FLCTRGA/status/1738188486006452615
