Kennedy Support Tanks Amid GOP Embrace

While Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s initial poll numbers were considered notable (19% support in one poll) when he first announced his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination against President Joe Biden, it looks like that had more to do with his last name than anything else. And the more he’s embraced by Republicans, in an attempt to cause discontent among Democrats, the more his polling has tanked. https://twitter.com/jilevin/status/1682132159031828480 From the Washington Post:

Quinnipiac University released a poll Wednesday showing Republicans continue to like Kennedy — by more than a 2-to-1 margin, in fact. But among Democrats, Kennedy’s image was more than 2-to-1 negative.

While 21 percent had a favorable opinion, 47 percent had an unfavorable one. That’s 26 points “underwater,” up from 15 points underwater a month ago.

And a new poll out of New Hampshire is even worse for Kennedy. The University of New Hampshire Survey Center in April showed him 22 points underwater among likely Democratic primary voters; its latest poll now shows him 60 points underwater.

Perhaps more alarming for Kennedy, the New Hampshire poll also asked folks to use one word to describe Kennedy. The most popular words were “crazy,” “dangerous,” “insane,” “nutjob,” “conspiracy” and “crackpot.” Earlier today, Kennedy appeared before a House committee where he declared he has never been an anti-vaxxer, even though he spent much of the COVID pandemic railing against vaccinations. https://twitter.com/ChrisDJackson/status/1681787643443531783
