Two Trump family businesses – Trump Corporation and Trump Payroll Corporation – have been found guilty of multiple charges including falsifying business records and criminal tax fraud. The charges arose from an alleged 15-year scheme to compensate top executives “off the books” to help them avoid paying taxes. The Trump Organization and its longtime chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, were indicted last year after a years-long investigation by the Manhattan district attorney’s office into the company’s financial practices. Weisselberg pleaded guilty to numerous charges in August 2022. The jury took just over a day before returning the guilty verdicts on a total of 17 counts, including scheme to defraud, conspiracy, criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records. The company faces roughly $1.6 million in fines at sentencing. https://twitter.com/CNNPolitics/status/1600233047437082626 From CNN:
