The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) unanimously voted to censure board member Natalie Cline and asked for her resignation after she publicly questioned a high school athlete’s gender in a Facebook post. USBE found Cline had engaged in “cyberbullying” and “sexual harassment” when she suggested the female athlete was transgender. The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to review a ruling from a federal appeals court last year that held in favor of a transgender middle school student in Indiana to use the boys’ bathroom. Today’s decision leaves the lower court’s ruling in place, requiring the school to treat trans students equally.
