Texas lawmakers voted on Wednesday to approve a bill, Senate Bill 14, banning hormone and puberty blocking treatments, as well as surgeries for transgender children (which don’t happen). Republican lawmakers in Texas have passed a bill which will bar cities and counties from enacting local ordinances including LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections.

Republican lawmakers in Texas have passed a bill which will bar cities and counties from enacting local ordinances that go further than broad sections of state law, including local labor, agriculture, natural resources and finance. In regard to the LGBTQ community, the new law will undermine local nondiscrimination ordinances that protect LGBTQ access to insurance, employment, and housing. News: Tony Awards Will Not Be Broadcast Due To Writer’s Strike + More

Some news items you might have missed: • Playbill: Due to the Writers Guild of America strike, the 76th Annual Tony Awards will not be able to broadcast live June 11. A two-part ceremony had been planned, with a pre-show streaming live on Pluto, and the main awards ceremony broadcasting live on CBS and Peacock.
