Diana Ross Drops New Remix “Love Hangover 2020”

Diana Ross proves she’s still ‘the boss’ with this new remix of her mega-hit “Love Hangover” by Eric Kupper. On May 29 the diva will drop a new album titled Supertonic featuring new remixes of nine Ross classics. Supertonic also will be available June 26 on CD and crystal-clear vinyl. All remixes are created from the original multi-tracks of the masters taken from the Motown vaults. Diana Ross rewrote history earlier this year when “Love Hangover 2020,” the first single from Supertonic, topped Billboard magazine’s Dance Club Songs Chart – her fourth consecutive No. 1 remix with a song that had previously been No. 1 in its original release. The original version of “Love Hangover” was a simultaneous No. 1 on Billboard’s Pop, R&B and Dance Club Play charts the week ending May 15, 1976.

Country Hunk Ty Herndon Covers Whitney Classic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”

After spending the past few months criss-crossing the country performing at various Pride events, out country music artist Ty Herndon recently hit the recording studio with DJ Little Steve to cut four songs for his dance floor fans.

“I have truly had the time of my life playing Pride festivals across America,” says the hunky country singer. “But, as much as the fans love country music, I noticed that I needed to bump up the party factor a bit.”

Herndon plans on releasing one track each week for the next four weeks beginning with his cover of the Whitney Houston classic, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.”

In addition to “Dance,” Herndon recorded to new versions of his own songs (“Living in a Moment,” “That Kind of Night”) as well as the Marc Cohn hit, “Walking in Memphis,” which became a big hit for Cher.

Herndon debuted the dance remixes this past summer at Market Days in Chicago.

It is interesting to note that Herndon says he was inspired by his Pride performances to record the remixes, but in listening to his cover of “Dance,” the openly gay artist omits the lyric “I need a man who’ll take a chance, On a love that burns hot enough to last.”

Instead, he chose to repeat an earlier gender-neutral lyric. Hmm…

Since coming out in 2014, the “What Mattered Most” singer has been a loud and proud advocate for the LGBT community partnering with several organizations, most notably GLAAD.

His annual Cancer for Love and Acceptance fundraiser for GLAAD features out musicians as well as LGBT allies. This year’s concert, hosted by Herndon and out CMT host Cody Alan, featured performances by Ty, country music icons Tanya Tucker and Vince Gill as well as out UK sensation Calum Scott and Michael Ray.

Check out Ty’s cover of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” below.

Remix: Olivia Newton-John “Twist Of Fate” (Daybeat 2016)

This really picked me up in the afternoon slump today.

Talented remix artist David Hornos Esteve shares his “Daybeat 2016” version of the ON-J classic “Twist of Fate,” which recently turned 32.  TOF has long been one of my top five ON-J songs.

David was the only dance jockey to remix songs on her Hotel Sessions album.

Talented guy. Enjoy. I like 🙂

Music: The Young Professionals Cover Abba’s “S.O.S.”

The Advocate shares the latest from The Young Professionals, an electro-pop duo who are as acclaimed for their original material as they are for covering, remixing and reinventing classic pop tracks.

From their upcoming release Remixes and Covers, this video showcases their take on the ABBA mega-hit “S.O.S.”

The upcoming Remixes and Covers, due July 31, collects some of those remixes and also features TYP’s sharp takes on several songs by artists beloved to the LGBT community such as Abba’s “S.O.S.”

The video for the duo’s rendition, which sounds a lot sexier and slinkier than the bouncy original, features vintage footage of the Swedish quartet and premieres exclusively today with The Advocate.

The duo explains they they were originally asked to cover the song for an Abba tribute album. “Having the opportunity to choose the song from all these amazing songs and being able to create a new production for it and make it our own was great experience,” they tell The Advocate via email, adding, “Of course if we discuss “LGBT” music, ABBA is the corner stone of the genre.”
