Olivia Newton-John on The Candi & Randy Show!

Olivia has spent decades not only as a chart topping music icon and star of film (Grease, Xanadu) & TV (Sordid Lives, Glee) but as an international ambassador of good health & well-being.

After her own cancer journey 20 years ago, she emerged as a breast cancer activist who advocates the best in not only western medicine but alternative holistic therapies that help support the body, mind and spirit.

Olivia has written a best-selling cook book of health-conscious recipes – “LivWise: easy recipes for a healthy, happy life” – to help everyone reach their goals of health and well-being. All proceeds go to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.

Plus, we talk with Olivia’s co-owner/partner Gregg Cave about their award-winning spa and retreat GAIA, named for “mother earth” located in Australia, where centering your physical and mental health is the ultimate goal.

Olivia Newton-John visits Susan George and her Arabian horses

Olivia and Susan George

From Olivia: Susan George and I are great friends.  We first met in London back in the 60’s when I was filming the movie “Tomorrow.”  At the time, Susie was dating one of my film co-stars, Ben Thomas, and we instantly bonded.  We remained friends throughout our lives and always shared a passion and a love for horses.  In fact when I lived in Malibu in the 70’s, Susie kept her first Arab horse, Shatzie, at my ranch and we would go riding together and have amazing memories of some incredible adventures.

“In the last few years Susie has gone through some great difficulty – sadly losing her wonderful husband, actor Simon MacCorkindale, 18 months  ago.  Susie continues to pursue their incredible dream together of creating the perfect Arabian horse (which I believe she has)!.  Recently, I was lucky enough to spend a few days at her beautiful farm, Georgian Arabians, in the wilds of Exmoor National Park, and was able to watch the growth of some of her newest prodgeny. These foals are absolutely stunning and I think will be world champions at the next international horse show. Her horses have been Junior British National Champions and have already received accolades from around the world.

Here are a few photographs from my most recent visit, any horse lover would be proud to own one of Susie’s horses – they are as special as she is!

Love and light,
Olivia

I met Zach Wahls today

Today,  I met Zach Wahls in the lobby of CNN where he was doing promotional appearances for his new book My Two Moms.
As regular readers of The Randy Report know, on January 31, 2011, Zach Wahls addressed the Iowa House Judiciary Committee in a public forum regarding civil unions. The nineteen-year-old son of a same-sex couple, Wahls proudly proclaimed, “The sexual orientation of my parents has had zero effect on the content of my character.”

Hours later, his speech was posted on YouTube, where it went viral, quickly receiving more than two million views. By the end of the week, everyone knew his name and wanted to hear more from the boy with two moms.

I recently was talking about how celebrity sightings don’t usually affect me much, but I have to say seeing Zach at 20 feet I dropped my bag and approached him directly.  I introduced myself and explained what I do and how much I admire him.  He could not have been more gracious as this stranger babbled to him.  He was exactly what you would expect from  his public appearances, as were his two moms.

My Two Moms also delivers a reassuring message to same-sex couples, their kids, and anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider: “You are not alone.”  Make sure you check out his new book.

I was visiting CNN with Olivia Newton-John who is also on a book tour promoting her new healthy cookbook LivWise – Easy Recipes for a Healthy Happy Life for which all proceeds go to help build the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
Olivia is a long-time ally of the LGBT community and has made her own public statement supporting marriage equality: “With respect to marriage equality, I believe that no-one has the right to judge and deny couples who love each other the ability to make a marriage commitment. Love is love.”
My very cool honor to get to introduce these two LGBT allies to each other.

Olivia Newton-John at Waterstones in London

From Olivia’s recent book signing in London for her cookbook “LivWise.”  All proceeds of the book go to help build the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

I am always fascinated by the flashes of the photographers. I don’t know why.  I also think it’s funny how they yell at celebrities.

I do laugh when Olivia tries to stop them, say “I’ll start over here and work my way across” so they all can have a direct shot, and then they just do what they were doing anyway. Take charge Miss Olivia!
