“I Touch Myself Project” for early breast cancer detection

‘I Touch Myself’ was the Divinyls’ biggest hit and touched millions of fans around the globe. Released in December 1990, the single was No. 1 on the charts at home and reached the Top 5 in the US.

It is a song that celebrates female sexuality like no other. Like Chrissy, it is bold, brave, and brassy. It rocked our world. And when Chrissy developed breast cancer, it was a song she wanted to become an anthem for spreading awareness about the importance of touching ourselves for early detection of the disease.

As a tribute, Chrissy’s family and friends, her husband Charley Drayton, fellow songwriters, Cancer Council NSW and supporters from around the globe have come together to make sure Chrissy’s legacy lives on to remind women to be in touch with their bodies, and if something’s not right, see their doctor.

Ten of Australia’s leading music artists: Connie Mitchell; Deborah Conway; Kate Cerebrano; Katie Noonan; Little Pattie; Megan Washington; Olivia Newton-John; Sarah Blasko; Sarah McLeod; and Suze DeMarchi have come together to make Chrissy’s final wish a reality.

Olivia Newton-John opens “Summer Nights” at the Flamingo Las Vegas in top form

Olivia Newton-John opened her new residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas last night to standing ovations throughout multi-genre song set.

Olivia was in fantastic form both vocally and visually.  Moving across the stage with amazing ease, she sailed through over 20 songs in a 90 minute set.   Highlights were a “take no prisoners” vocal at the end of “Sam” that brought the house down, and an emotional ‘you-could-hear-a-pin-drop’ rendition of “Send In The Clowns” that reminded the audience that the singer is also an actress.  This is an artist at the peak of her powers in terms of interpretation and vocal ability. 

Celebrities in attendance were RuPaul, Dot Marie Jones of GLEE, Joey Lawrence of ABC Family’s “Melissa & Joey,” and rare audience member Marie Osmond who usually holds court on stage with her famous brother with their own long running show at the Flamingo.

Clinton Kelly of THE CHEW goes shopping with Olivia Newton-John

I tagged along Saturday as Olivia Newton-John played host to Clinton Kelly of THE CHEW, who spent the day with ONJ talking about her upcoming residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas.

One stop of the visit was Olivia taking Clinton on a little shopping spree at the Promenade Boutique  where her new merchandise had just been delivered. New CDs, t-shirts, hats and more – all for the perusing.  Pics below for the die-hard ONJ fans 🙂

It’s looks like Clinton hit the jackpot in Las Vegas.

A visit to the amazing world of ABSINTHE

The Gazillionaire and his assistant Penny Pibbets of ABSINTHE pay tribute to Olivia Newton-John

Michael and I paid a visit with Olivia Newton-John to the wild and fabulous “Absinthe” here in Las Vegas last night.

As Olivia is in rehearsals for her upcoming opening of her residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas, she’s spending some of her free evenings exploring other entertainment Las Vegas has to offer. Regular readers of The Randy Report know that my husband, Michael, is Olivia’s publicist, and we’ve been friends with Olivia for something like 18 years now, so now with her long-term engagement we can show her more of Las Vegas than a short weekend run of concerts has allowed up to now.

“Absinthe” is one of our favorite shows and we make a point to take our friends when in town. It’s kind of hard to describe: part circus, part outrageous comedy.  It’s a fun, sexy goulash of laughs and awesome acts.

Performed in the round and in intimate proximity of the world-class artists performing amazing feats of strength, balance, danger and unfathomable flexibility, “Absinthe” is an experience unlike any other.

The New York Times put it like this: “Imagine Cirque du Soleil as channeled through “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and painted by George Grosz. A blend of skill, erotic innuendo and zaniness. The memorable moments make a jaded audience literally gasp.”

I can report that our entire group had the best time. And afterwards, we took a few pictures with the uber-talented cast.

Thanks “Absinthe” for always delivering and never disappointing. Great show!

The Flamingo Las Vegas welcomes Olivia Newton-John as the newest Las Vegas headliner

The Flamingo Las Vegas officially welcomed international superstar Olivia Newton-John as the newest headliner on the fabulous Las Vegas Strip.

Olivia made a grand entrance in a car from her hit movie “Grease” flanked, in Las Vegas style, by the iconic Chippendales and the Jubilee showgirls dressed as “T-Birds” and “Pink Ladies.”

Former Mayor (and current Las Vegas First Gentleman) Oscar Goodman, County Commissioner Tom Collins and Flamingo Las Vegas hotel president Eileen Moore formally welcomed the superstar at the event today.

Las Vegas has waited a long time for the “Grease” star to begin her long-term residency.  And Olivia seems very happy to be putting down roots in one place.

“I have traveled so much in my career and being all over the world and being on planes and buses and trains and cars for so long that the idea of a residency was actually really nice to be in one place and one bed. I actually unpacked my bag last night and I thought, ‘I have never done this,'” she said.

Olivia begins a long-term concert residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas beginning April 8, 2014.

Just a day in LA – Olivia Newton-John, Joan Rivers and RuPaul

My hubby Michael sent me a couple of pics from his day yesterday in LA spent shooting some fun press events with Olivia Newton-John.

This is all in advance of Olivia’s launch of her concert residency “Summer Nights” at the Flamingo Las Vegas on April 8th.

Michael and Olivia started the day with Joan Rivers taping “Fashion Police” (set to air Friday), and ended with taking a ride with the fab RuPaul for his fun web series “RuPaul Drives.” You can be sure I’ll be posting that once it’s up.
