Frontman Chris Martin and actress Jessica Lucas (Evil Dead, Cloverfield) star as sumo-suited “big” ballerinas in the video for Coldplay’s third Ghost Stories single, “True Love.” The message for the clip, as displayed at the end, is “anything is possible,” and in the case of the clip – directed by Jonas Åkerlund (Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Coldplay’s “Magic”) – the thing that is seemingly impossible is the couple being taken seriously as dancers and people, as they each face various humiliations including getting turned away by a bus driver, getting ignored as a street performer and being mocked at a casting call. But as is always the case, at least in Coldplay videos, things work out for the star-crossed lovers.
I’ll admit up front I’m not the biggest Taylor Swift fan. She has talent, clearly, but she’s not my thing.
BUT – I do like her new video for her single “Shake It Off.” Lots of footage of Taylor making fun of herself with several different sets of dancers (ballet, hip hop, modern, cheerleading). Visually it’s very fun and interesting.
Plus – the message of the song is definitely going to resonate with pop culture today. Referring to one’s critics as “haters” and telling folks to “shake it off” is a popular message.
“I’ve had every part of my life dissected — my choices, my actions, my words, my body, my style, my music,” Swift tells Rolling Stone about the new single. “When you live your life under that kind of scrutiny, you can either let it break you, or you can get really good at dodging punches. And when one lands, you know how to deal with it. And I guess the way that I deal with it is to shake it off.”
From Taylor’s upcoming CD “1989” – preorder on iTunes here.
This is QUITE excellent. From Sinead O’Connor’s new album I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss.
Open, euphoric, expressive and a strong sense of freedom.
“Oh, take me to church I’ve done so many bad things it hurts Yeah, take me to church But not the ones that hurt ‘Cause that ain’t the truth And that’s not what it’s for Yeah, take me to church”
A new music video for “A Place With No Name” from Michael Jackson’s posthumous Xscape album, a collection of previously unreleased Michael Jackson songs.
The album is produced and curated by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid, who retooled the production to add a fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson’s essence and integrity. It’s a process Reid calls “con temporizing.”
Directed by Samuel Bayer, the video for “A Place With No Name” is reminiscent of the 1991 video for “In The Closet,” utilizing outtakes and repurposed footage from that video.
Out singer/songwriter Matt Gold’s first single – “Appreciated” – from his new EP Let It Out.
The tune and the video have a light-hearted, bouncy feel just right for AC music fans.
Recorded with Grammy-winning engineer David Bianco and produced by renowned drummer Kenny Aronoff, Gold says it’s his most optimistic release to date. The single, “Appreciated,” has charted on the Billboard Hot AC chart – a rare feat for a completely independent artist.
More info on Matt on his official website, and you can find Matt’s music on Amazon here.
