What a great event last night at the Hard Rock Hotel’s “Vinyl” where ROCK OF AGES star Mark Shunock hosted his monthly “Mondays Dark” charity event.

Each month “Mondays Dark” chooses a different charity to raise money for with local and national celebs coming out on their “night off” to entertain.

Last night featured American Idol alum Jasmine Trias and Ben Stone, the cast of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET,  Travis Cloer of JERSEY BOYS, Scott Nevin of Bravo TV’s THE PEOPLE’S COUCH, PEEPSHOW star Cheaza, and Adrian Zmed (star of TV, film and Broadway).

Thousands were raised for the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals by the sold out crowd through not only ticket sales but silent auction items and flat out “cash in hand” donations.

Make sure you don’t miss the next Mondays Dark, held every third Monday of the month with a different charity recipient.  More info at the official website.

Las Vegas: MONDAYS DARK with Mark Shunock – December 2013

I attended the second installment of MONDAYS DARK hosted by Mark Shunock at the Hard Rock’s “Body English” last night. Great entertainment by stars of the Las Vegas Strip and Broadway with the goal of raising money for Aid For AIDS Nevada.

Fun times. Check out a few pics of the night. Photos by Denise Truscello.

The third Monday night of each month is about to become a hot bed of entertainment, music and comedy for a cause when ROCK OF AGES star Mark Shunock launches “Mondays Dark” beginning Monday, November 18th.

The framework of the evening will be modeled after a talk show format with topics, musical guests and very “off the cuff” moments.  Think a cross between The Ed Sullivan Show and David Letterman.

Shunock will gather an eclectic cast of guests including stars from Hollywood, the Strip, musical acts, athletes and celebrity chefs for 90 minutes of chat, entertainment – and a lot of laughs. “Mondays Dark” will partner with a different Las Vegas-based charity to raise $10,000 per month for each charity, with an estimated grand total of more $100,000 over the next twelve months between ticket sales and silent auction items.

The first “Mondays Dark” will benefit Opportunity Village and include special guest stars: three time Emmy nominee Dot-Marie Jones from the hit series Glee, Travis Cloer of Jersey Boys and performances by the cast of Rock of Ages, Anne Martinez and, the Opportunity Village Elvis impersonators, The OV Elvi.

Tickets range from $20- $50 and can be purchased by visiting www.MondaysDark.com and are limited to 200 tickets per event. VIP table reservations and bottle service are available for up to six people per booth by calling 702-485-1262.

Jim Caruso’s “Cast Party” returns to The Smith Center’s Cabaret Jazz Room

Jim Caruso brought his fabulous open mic night “Cast Party” back to the Smith Center’s Cabaret Jazz Room this week, and the return engagement proved once again – this is one of the best “shows” in Las Vegas.

Already running 10 years in NYC at Birdland, this marks the second time Caruso, along with partner in crime/music director Billy Stritch, have played the Cabaret Jazz room bringing together some of Las Vegas’ best and brightest talents to drop by and perform. The format provides for a wide swath of talent, style and content. You never know what you’re going to get with “Cast Party” – and this evening was packed with talent.

In addition to Caruso and Stritch, just a few of the local luminaries included Frankie Moreno, Jasmine Trias (American Idol), Mark Shunock (Rock of Ages), Reva Rice (Vegas the Show), Maren Wade (Vegas the Show), Skye Dee Miles, Pascale Elia, Philip Officer, Amanda Avila and many more. Check out the pics below. As always, click on the pic to enlarge.

And the next time “Cast Party” hits Las Vegas don’t miss it.
