Donald Trump Reads Sen. Lindsey Graham’s Cell Number To Crowd

Speaking at a campaign event in South Carolina today, Donald Trump lashed out at few GOP presidential hopeful Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Saying that Graham “doesn’t seem as bright as Rick Perry,” Trump went on to read to the crowd what appeared to be Graham’s personal cell phone number.

Graham recently blasted The Donald for saying John McCain was not a war hero.

Graham’s campaign camp responded saying, “Trump continues to show hourly that he is ill-prepared to be commander in chief” and that the “two people most excited about Donald Trump’s candidacy are Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.”

UPDATE – Graham posted this to his Twitter account this afternoon:

HRC Reminds Us Of Sen. Lindsey Graham’s Terrible Record On LGBT Issues

With the announcement of Sen. Lindsey Graham’s 2016 bid for president, the Human Rights Campaign would like to remind you of his positions on LGBT issues.

And suffice to say, the news is NOT good. Check it out below.

By the way, I think it bears mentioning that unsubstantiated rumors have swirled for years that Graham may be a closeted gay man. I have no proof that the life-long bachelor is gay, but if so it would be the height of hypocrisy.

Sen. Lindsey Graham To Announce 2016 Bid For Prez Today

Either Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina is finally coming out, or he’s announcing his run for the 2016 GOP nomination for president this morning.

Graham will bring the number of declared GOP candidates to eight. Rick Perry will make it nine later this week. Still to declare: Scott Wilson, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, Jeb Bush.

With the addition of Graham, that will bring the total number of announced GOP candidates to eight.

Still waiting on expected announcements from former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Wilson, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

UPDATE: The AP has this clip from Graham’s announcement today. In his announcement, Graham says he has more national security experience than anyone else in the presidential race adding, “And that includes you, Hillary.”

He also threw this red meat to the followers, “I’ll be a voice for social conservative values without apology or animosity.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham: If SCOTUS Rules For Marriage Equality, It Will Be Time To Move Forward

Speaking to Buzzfeed yesterday, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham admitted that should the Supreme Court rule in favor of marriage equality, it will be time for the country to move on.

“Things are changing, so at the end of the day, being for traditional marriage without animosity is where I stand. If the Supreme Court rules sometime this year that same-sex marriage bans are unconstitutional, then that will be a defining moment in that debate. It will be time for us to move forward as a society.”

Newest #Benghazi Investigation By GOP-led House Shows No Wrongdoing By Obama Administration

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is acting like a child who was just told there is no Santa Claus over the new GOP-led House Benghazi report which cleared the Obama administration of any wrongdoing in its response to the Benghazi attack.

“I think the report is full of crap,” Graham said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Even though this is the sixth government report on Benghazi which essentially clears members of the administration, Graham holds fast to the idea that officials in the White House altered the Benghazi talking points after the attack.

During his Sunday appearance on CNN, host Gloria Borger told Graham that the House report concludes that the administration received bad information at first and did not lie.

“That’s a bunch of garbage,” Graham shot back. “That’s a complete bunch of garbage.”

While Republicans desperately want to use the Benghazi tragedy against Hillary Clinton in the upcoming 2016 presidential campaign, the latest investigation by the GOP-led House again shows there’s no “there” there:

Similar to five other government reports, the one released by the House Intelligence Committee on Friday said that the administration had not intentionally misled the public about what occurred during the attacks in talking points it created for officials to use in television appearances that turned out to be inaccurate.

It also said that no order was given by the military to “stand down” in responding to try to save the four Americans killed in the attacks, a claim that Republicans have made based on the account of a member of the security team in Benghazi that day.

[snip]

“The effort to turn the Benghazi tragedy into a political scandal never had a factual basis,” said David Brock, founder of Correct the Record, a group that defends Mrs. Clinton in the news media, and author of the e-book “The Benghazi Hoax.”

“The Republican committee report should close the case,” he added. “If the scandal persists into 2016, it will only be for partisan reasons.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham: “White Men In Male-Only Clubs Are Going To Do Great In My Presidency”

Sen. Lindsey Graham has admitted in an interview to making eye-raising comments last month at a meeting of the Hibernian Society of Charleston.

From a recording made at the meeting which was then anonymously sent to two South Carolina Democrats:

“I’m trying to help you with your tax status. I’m sorry the government’s so f*cked up. If I get to be president, white men in male-only clubs are going to do great in my presidency.”

Graham said the Hibernian Society encourages speakers “to be earthy, to make fun of yourself, to make fun of them. Then you say something serious and sit down. And if you talk over 20 minutes, they throw something at you.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham: We will “all get killed back here” if combat troops aren’t sent to fight ISIS

Sen. Lindsey Graham, who seems to support the United States going to war any and everywhere, argues for US combat troops to be sent to the Middle East to fight ISIS.

Speaking today on Fox News Sunday:

“The first thing I want to tell American people, from my point of view, it is our fight, it is not just their fight. I will not let this president suggest to the American people we can outsource or security and this is not about our safety.

“There is no way in hell you can form an army on the ground to go into Syria, to destroy ISIL, without a substantial American component. To destroy ISIL, you have to kill or capture their leaders, take the territory they hold back, cut off the financing, and destroy the capability to regenerate.

“This is a war we’re fighting, not a counter-terrorism operation. This is not Somalia, this is not Yemen. This is a turning point in the war on terror. Our strategy will fail yet again.

“This president needs to rise to the occasion before we all get killed back here at home.”

Mind you, Graham has no children to send in harms way. And while he served in the Air Force, he was a Judge Advocate (lawyer), never seeing combat.

Knowing Americans are very weary of war, but horrified by videos of two American journalists being beheaded, politicians are fighting both sides of the “combat troops” quandary.

I think, in terms of public perception (and polls seem to agree with me), that Americans support the idea of air strikes by our forces. But not sure we have the stomach or financial resources to send 10K, 20K, 30K US troops into the Middle East to fight a war that is not currently our own.

Leave your thoughts below. I’d be curious to hear.

Do you want our men and women in uniform sent back to the Middle East?
If so, how do we pay for the costs?
Is America ready for another war that would stretch the national budget at a time when we are just now seeing the effects of a prolonged recovery?

Sen. Lindsey Graham admits the GOP government shutdown “hurt” the Republican brand

Via RawStory: In an interview on Face The Nation, Sen. Lindsey Graham admitted the GOP bungled the recent government shutdown:

“After this debacle called the shutdown, our party’s been hurt, our brand name is at the lowest ever, Obamacare actually got a bump in polling and we got in the way of a disastrous roll-out. So from my point of view, this was a tactical choice that hurt us.”

To make his point, the South Carolina Republican told a story of a “friend” who had been personally impacted by the health care law.

“Friend of mine owns 52 Wendy’s, he’s put pen to paper, he has 40 percent of his workforce insured today,” Graham explained. “Under Obamacare, if 20 percent choose insurance, his insurance costs will double. That story is repeating itself throughout the economy. Obamacare is a debacle that will go into 2014.”
