Johnny Manuel Covers Whitney Houston In Stunning Debut On American’s Got Talent

Four million views in only a few days. Johnny Manuel from Flint, Michigan, made quite the splash this week on America’s Got Talent. Before singing, Johnny revealed he’d had a recording contract when he was younger but it didn’t work out. Judge Simon Cowell asked what the budding singer hoped would come from his appearance on AGT. “I hope what can happen is that I’m finally able to be who I am and present my music to the world.” Watch his spectacular take on the Whitney Houston hit “I Have Nothing.” Clearly a fantastic instrument, and he knows what to do with it. I’ll be curious to see if he’s able to make his future performances his own without a past blueprint to follow, or if he’s just a great mimic with a terrific voice.
