Some news items you might have missed:

OUT: The Village People’s Jim Newman (above) moved to Brazil for love. The Broadway daddy would love a return to performing, but for now he’s happy hunkering down on the beach with his fiancé, Sergio J. Matos.

Instinct Magazine: Ryan Reynolds wants his anti-hero super-hero Deadpool to be pansexual (per the original source comics) in the upcoming Marvel Studios film Deadpool 3.

Kenneth-in-the-212: Check out Kenneth’s weekly round-up of the what’s what in LGBTQ publications like the latest issue of WireMag (below) featuring body builder Steve Rogers.

NBC News: Middle school students in Texas have accused a teacher of defacing their chalk art of Pride flags by scrawling “heteros rule” over top of it. The school district is apparently dodging the issue by sending out a “vague” email implying there was a dustup (but didn’t explain what happened).

Axios: Oklahoma has secured a $2.6 million refund for a malaria drug purchase once touted by Donald Trump as a treatment for COVID-19. Trump repeatedly promoted hydroxychloroquine last year despite health officials warning that the drug should not be prescribed for treating COVID-19 outside of research or hospital settings due to serious side effects.

Twitter: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told a Trump supporter he “led the fight” to overturn the 2020 election (take that Josh Hawley). But as the cultist grows more fervent, Cruz (aware a camera is on him) has to pull away.

News Round-Up: November 20, 2020

Jim Newman (via Instagram)

Some news items you might have missed:

InstaHunks: Let’s hear it for Broadway’s Jim Newman (above) who definitely knows how to find his light. Follow him on Instagram here.

CNN: Donald Trump told an ally that he knows he lost, but that he is delaying the transition process and is aggressively trying to sow doubt about the election results in order to get back at Democrats for questioning the legitimacy of his own election in 2016, especially with the Russia investigation.

HBO Max: The original series EQUAL pays tribute to the epic origin stories of the LGBTQ+ movement. The four-part docu-series captures the true backstories of the leaders and unsung heroes, pre-Stonewall, who changed the course of American history through their tireless activism. Each hour-long episode in the series plays like a thriller, bringing to life the high stakes and hard deadlines of historical events that have not yet been given their due.

In honor of Transgender Day of Awareness, I want to highlight Episode 2 which focuses on the courageous pioneers of the trans movement. Check out the trailer for the series below.

Out: Two Trump-appointed judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit today overturned a lower court ruling and struck down local ordinances prohibiting licensed therapists from practicing the debunked “conversion therapy” on minors.

Bloomberg: Donald Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., tested positive for coronavirus earlier this week and is isolating. Junior recently downplayed the extent of the coronavirus outbreak that deaths are “almost nothing.” I guess this makes Junior “almost nothing.”

AP: Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger certified results reported by the state’s 159 counties that show Biden won the state by a margin of 12,670 votes.

Modern Bears’ Travis and his boo, John White, shared their wedding pics:

View this post on Instagram

It was a week before our originally scheduled but then cancelled wedding date of May 23rd when our good friends the Bartons, invited us over for dinner. We were all still trying to physically and emotionally navigate Covid’s ravaged takeover of the world we knew. The Barton family, Greg, Dee Dee, and daughters Maddie and Chloe had been in serious quarantine lock-down for weeks, not venturing out, or seeing people. We talked about the postponement of our wedding and shed some tears. And then Dee Dee said, “hey, why don’t you still get married? I can legally officiate it, and we’ll just do it here on your original day, May 23rd.” And so, a week later, we did. We were touched by the family’s enthusiasm and efforts in making the moment special for us, and it was beyond lovely. Maddie, an incredibly talented musician, played our wedding dance song on her sax, “That Sunday, That Summer” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAuPoFRugsM) and we slow danced by their pool. Dee Dee had emailed each of us questions about out how we met, etc. earlier in the week and then integrated each of our answers into her marriage ceremony speech before marrying us. We all cried and ate chocolate wedding cake. We decided to just keep it to ourselves until we could do it officially before all of our family and friends on November 28th, the new date for the wedding. November 28th seemed like a long ways away when we rescheduled our wedding back in early May. Surely everything would be back to some sort of normalcy by then, where we could all be together again sans masks and social distancing. But here we are. So, we’ve decided to postpone our wedding celebration party until Fall of next year. And we hope and pray for so many reasons that we will ALL be able to celebrate together by then. A huge thanks to that sweet family for opening up their home and hearts to us, and making our wedding happen ❤️. #gaylove #gaywedding #covidwedding #gaymarriage #gaycouple #lovewins #bearcouple
