Cailtyn Jenner Tweets “I Am Cait” Series Cancelled

Caitlyn Jenner shared the news via Twitter that her E! Network reality show will not be continuing on for a third season after a dramatic decline in ratings.

Gay Star News has more:

E! Entertainment in a statement that it is ‘incredibly proud of the two seasons of I Am Cait’ which the cable channel described as ‘a groundbreaking docu-series that sparked an important and unprecedented global conversation about transgender people, their struggles and triumphs.

‘Caitlyn and E! have mutually decided not to move forward with another season at this time. She will always remain a part of the E! family, and we look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.’

"I Am Cait" Returns This MarchLast year Caitlyn Jenner changed her life, this year she'll live it.Posted by I Am Cait on Thursday, January 14, 2016

Probably the most interesting thing here is Jenner’s statement “To be honest, I don’t see dating women in the future. I’ve been there, done that.”

Folks have wondered all over the internet if Jenner’s transition would translate into her dating men or women. I’m guessing the new season may explore that aspect of Jenner’s new life.

Season 2 of “I Am Cait” begins in March.

“I Am Cait” Will Return For Second Season

Well color me surprised – E! has renewed the Caitlyn Jenner reality show I Am Cait for a second season.

I’m surprised mainly because after all the hype leading up to and through the premiere, I Am Cait failed to hold decent viewership.

With a July premiere, the show racked up a passable 2.7 million live-plus-same-day viewers, but that was the peak. The show’s numbers dropped precipitously from there by more than half. The season finale notched 1.3 million viewers.

More from Buzzfeed:

Jenner came out as transgender to ABC News’ Diane Sawyer in late April after several years of speculation in the gossip press about her appearance. Then, on June 1, Vanity Fair featured Jenner on its cover with the headline, “Call Me Caitlyn.”

Though Jenner’s second act as a celebrity was as a Kardashian family member, I Am Cait struck a very different tone from Keeping Up With the Kardashians. There were scattered appearances from Kim Kardashian, Khloe Karsdashian, Kris Jenner, and Kylie Jenner, and some drama therein. But mostly, the show followed Jenner, 65, through her self-education about transgender issues. She surrounded herself with a group of trans women from whom she seemed to learn quite a bit, having lived in a bubble of celebrity and privilege since her time as an Olympic gold medal winner in 1976.
