Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton stopped by ELLEN today to talk on a range of subjects including how tough it is for a woman to run for president, her position on gun control, appearing on SNL with her dobbleganger Kate McKinnon, and even the lessons she learned from Kim Kardashian on taking a selfie.
Hillary also gave a non-too-veiled wave of support to LGBTs when she spoke of the difficulties many have of breaking through stereotypes and living authentically:
“I don’t know how we’re going to open the door for more girls and boys to live the lives they choose until we get rid of these stereotypes and caricatures, and break through together.”
Hillary Clinton has an op-ed that’s completely on point in the Boston Globe today making the very important point that the next president could possibly nominate 3 Supreme Court justices.
Who do you want making those nominations? Hillary or someone like Ted Cruz? Huge gap in political perspective.
On Election Day, three of the current justices will be over 80 years old, which is past the court’s average retirement age. The next president could easily appoint more than one justice. That makes this a make-or-break moment — for the court and our country.
As president (and a lawyer and former law professor), I’ll appoint justices who will protect the constitutional principles of liberty and equality for all, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or political viewpoint; make sure the scales of justice aren’t tipped away from individuals toward corporations and special interests; and protect citizens’ right to vote, rather than billionaires’ right to buy elections.
I’ve been making this point for a long time now. Whatever your pet policy leaning is, so much precedent is set by SCOTUS which affects us all day to day.
Marriage equality, women’s right to choose, organized labor, voting rights – important issues that are in the docket for this term.

Hillary Clinton was quick to issue this statement regarding anti-gay Alabama state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, who instructed probate judges in his state to cease issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
“Marriage equality is now the law of the land — including in Alabama. Today’s unconstitutional order reminds us that, despite the Supreme Court’s ruling that all Americans have the right to marry the person they love, our work is far from over. There are still judges who are determined to stand in the way of people’s rights. There are still politicians who argue the Court got it wrong and states should ignore its ruling.
“We need to ensure that marriage equality is guaranteed and enforced nationwide. And we need to fight discrimination against LGBT Americans wherever it occurs. There are places where you can get married on Sunday and are at risk of being fired from your job or evicted from your home on Monday because you’re gay. That’s not how it should be in the United States of America.
“As President, I’ll fight for the equal rights of all Americans, no matter who they are or who they love.”

Republican presidential contender Donald Trump called in to CNN’s New Day to toss some word salad regarding his renewed attacks on Bill Clinton saying the former president is “seedy” and “one of the great woman abusers of all time,”
Trump added that Hillary Clinton is somehow to blame for Bill’s past indiscretions calling her his “enabler.”
In Trump’s head, attacking Bill Clinton (who is not running for office) will somehow help him take out Hillary. In the past, such attacks have only served to shore up support for Hillary.

Donald Trump went ballistic last month when Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton said during a debate that ISIS was taking Trump’s hate speech as a recruitment tool.
Clinton said that ISIS was “going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists.”
Now, a video has surfaced showing pretty much just that.

An al Qaeda affiliate has apparently released a new recruitment video, telling Muslims in America that the country has a long history of racism and discrimination and will turn on its Muslim community.
The video purportedly by Somali terrorist group al-Shabaab uses historic civil rights era footage of firebrand Malcolm X and audio of 2016 presidential candidate Donald Trump to label the United States a racist society.
In the wake of the San Bernardino shootings last month, Trump said he wanted “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on.”
The video runs this line, bleeping out the word “hell.”
Before that, Trump had called for surveillance of mosques and said he was open to establishing a database for all Muslims living in the country.
The video also includes recent footage of police shootings and violence against African Americans in Ferguson and Baltimore — and claims that this is what is in store for American Muslims.
Trump’s campaign has not responded to the video.
Former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was named “Most Admired Woman” for the record 20th time this year in Gallup’s annual poll.
President Obama was named “Most Admired Man” in the same poll.
