Ben Carson Admits To Fabricating West Point Admission

Politico is reporting today that Dr Ben Carson, current GOP White House hopeful, has admitted that he never applied nor was accepted to West Point.

The story has been a central talking point in Carson’s personal biography for years.

According to a tale told in his book, “Gifted Hands,” the then-17 year old was introduced in 1969 to Gen. William Westmoreland, who had just ended his command of U.S. forces in Vietnam, and the two dined together. That meeting, according to Carson’s telling, was followed by the offer of a “full scholarship” to the military academy.

West Point, however, has no record of Carson applying, much less being extended admission.

“In 1969, those who would have completed the entire process would have received their acceptance letters from the Army Adjutant General,” said Theresa Brinkerhoff, a spokeswoman for the academy. She said West Point has no records that indicate Carson even began the application process. “If he chose to pursue (the application process), then we would have records indicating such,” she said.
When presented by POLITICO with these facts, Carson’s campaign conceded he never applied.

Ben Carson has repeatedly claimed he was offered a full scholarship from West Point. He conveys the story in at least two other books, “You Have a Brain” and “Take the Risk.” Carson repeated his West Point claim as recently as Aug. 13, when he fielded questions from supporters on Facebook.

Dr. Ben Carson: It’s Not Fair For Transgender People To “Make Everyone Else Feel Uncomfortable”

Speaking to Fusion, current GOP White House front-runner Dr. Ben Carson says he believes LGBTs can “do anything they want” but he doesn’t believe transgender folks should have the right to “make everyone else uncomfortable.”

Questioned about Houston voters’ rejection of a law banning LGBT discrimination this week, Carson said: “How about we have a transgender bathroom?” “It is not fair for them to make everybody else uncomfortable,” Carson said of transgender people.

“It’s one of the things that I don’t particularly like about the [LGBT] movement. I think everybody has equal rights, but I’m not sure that anybody should have extra rights—extra rights when it comes to redefining everything for everybody else and imposing your view on everybody else.”

“The way this country was designed was live and let live,” Carson said, as he sipped a tall glass of orange juice in Miami’s Moonlite Diner.

“I feel, gay people, they can do anything they want.”

“But you’re against gay marriage,” Ramos pointed out.

Rick Santorum: Equal Rights For LGBTs Could Make Kids Want To Be Transgender

Virulently anti-gay GOP White House hopeful Rick Santorum recently called in to The Steve Malzberg Show with the inane idea that LGBT rights bills could lead children to consider “maybe” becoming transgender – as if being trans is something one “becomes” rather than something one is.

“I don’t know why children at that age — why this is even an issue, the idea that we are introducing this type of real dangerous confusion for young people at this early age, do we really care about what we’re doing to millions of children who don’t have gender confusion and basically introducing the subject and saying, ‘maybe you should, maybe this is something you should start thinking about at age seven.’ I mean this is really dangerous and it’s going too far because it is having an impact on not just folks who may be in a difficult situation at an early age but many who would never have been in that situation but now are being confronted with it.”

New National Poll Shows Ben Carson Leading Donald Trump For GOP Nomination

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows retired Dr. Ben Carson is leading former front runner Donald Trump of the Republican presidential nomination.

The new survey shows Carson getting 29% support versus Trump’s 23%.

Sen. Marco Rubio clocked in at 11%, Sen. Ted Cruz at 10% and former Florida governor Jeb Bush 8%.

This is the second national poll indicating Carson now leads the race.

Stay tuned for The Donald’s soon-to-come Twitter rant about how wrong the poll is.

Sen. Ted Cruz Wants To Remind You He Hits Back

Attempting to capitalize on his brief moment of attention after criticizing the media at this week’s GOP debate, the campaign wizards for Sen. Ted Cruz rushed out this spot reminding you he hits back at the “liberal biased media.”

It’s worth remembering that when Cruz made his grandstanding comment at the debate, he was whining about a lack of “substantive” questions from the moderators.

Ironically, he chose to be dramatic rather than answer the “substantive” question that had just been posed to him asking why he was opposing a bipartisan budget deal that would avert a debt ceiling crisis, a Medicare crisis, and a Social Security Disability Insurance crisis.

Please note the very dramatic music in the background.

Republican National Committee Suspends Debate Partnership With NBC

Following this week’s GOP presidential debate, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus sent a letter to NBC News stating the RNC is “suspending the partnership” with the network regarding a planned February debate.

The letter came in the wake of intense criticism of how the CBNC debate was handled earlier this week.

Priebus wrote that the partnership was suspended “pending further discussion between the RNC and our presidential campaigns.”

NBC has been scheduled to hold a GOP debate February 26 in Houston.

Although CNBC and NBC News are both owned by NBCUniversal, the two are separate entities; they have different management teams and different locations while often sharing and collaborating on news stories.

I watched the CNBC debate, and while I think the candidates over-reacted to the questions asked (many just ignored the questions), I did think the CNBC team wasn’t prepared or tightly focused enough to keep control of the event. At times, the moderators didn’t seem equipped nor ready with follow up questions.
