Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls – David Sedaris joins Jon Stewart

Author David Sedaris joined Jon Stewart last night to talk about his new book Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, and his book tour, the people he meets on it, and the polls he takes at them.

His observations on how men may, or may not, share dessert is very funny.  Great sense of humor and delivery.  Jon Stewart loses it 🙂

Jimmy Fallon & John Krasinski in brutal “lip-sync off”

Ok, so when I saw this clip at first glance I was thinking, “Oh, another silly late night talk show bit by the ever funny Jimmy Fallon.”

But the 8 minute length gave me pause. “Randy” I said to myself, “Randy Report readers won’t hang out for that long to get to the funniness.”

But let me tell you all – would I steer you wrong? Hang out and watch as it gets funnier. The last song made me laugh.

And by the way, John Krasinski is ROCKING the beard thing in my opinion…

Thoughts?

Signs you’ve lived in NYC too long

Funny observations that let you know when you’ve lived in NYC too long – from Buzzfeed:

1. Dinner = hitting up your slice place at 1 a.m.

2. Nothing fills you with more rage than getting on a crowded subway car and suddenly hearing, “It’s showtime!”

3. In the summer, you consider the wind from an approaching subway car to be “a nice breeze.”

4. You go to the bodega in your pajamas

But all kidding aside, who could possibly live in NYC too long? Love it!

Commercial: “I’d Date Me”

One Million Moms (actually about 55K, not a million) really, really, really hates this commercial.

From their press release:

Norelco’s new ad crosses a line of decency.

The new Norelco commercial goes beyond a close facial shave to body grooming well below the chest and back. This commercial went WAY TOO FAR! During the commercial, it shows a man trimming hair in different areas of his body. Toward the end, it shows him standing with his boxer shorts down with hair falling to the floor as he uses the hair trimmer. It is implied that he is shaving in his private area. The dialogue in the ad is equally offensive. “I’d wink at me; I’d hug me,” he says. Then he looks in the mirror, admires himself, and says, “I’d F*** me.” The F-word is bleeped out. But then they display their website, www.IdFAQme.com. This is clearly a play on the F-word.

After receiving complaints on its Facebook page, Philips Norelco replied by posting:

“To our fans: The goal of our community is to talk about guys’ shaving and grooming needs. Lately we’ve received some comments that our new TV ad doesn’t resonate with everybody. We wanted to take a moment to let you know that we’ve heard the feedback. In response we’re going to run the TV ads later in the evening beginning this weekend. In the meantime, we look forward to getting back to what we do best, talking about men’s shaving and grooming!”

The excuse Philips Norelco gave by phone was equally dismissive, saying, “We are trying to reach a certain audience and would pass along these concerns.”

Their response isn’t good enough. The ad shouldn’t run at any time. It is not only inappropriate for children; it is offensive to adults also. The company’s response to people’s concerns is in poor taste. They are basically saying that they don’t care, and they are going to run the commercial anyway. That just doesn’t cut it.

President Obama jokes at the 2013 White House Correspondents Dinner

Some of President Obama’s one liners at the White House Correspondent’s dinner:

• I’m not the strapping young muslim socialist like I used to be.
• I admire the DC press corps covering all sides of an issue, just in case one of them happens to be accurate
• I’m taking my charm offensive on the road… a book burning with Michele Bachmann
• Some have suggested we put my library in my birthplace, but I’d rather keep it in the US.

I love this tradition, and I like that he can make fun of himself.
