President Obama’s tan suit throws Twitter-verse into turmoil

Apparently, the world was rocked by the fact that President Obama appeared at a press conference in a tan suit.  In fact, the tan suit gained it’s own hashtag (#tansuit) and Twitter handle.

Sarah Jessica Parker & Anna Wintour critique the men of the Met Gala

Normally, it’s the women’s attire which gets the critique at big gala events.

But Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, stop by Late Night with Seth Meyers to discuss which male celebrities did and did not adhere to the “White Tie” dress code of this year’s Met Gala.

A few of the comments:

• Tom Brady: “He obviously did not look at the invitation.”

• Jake Gyllenhaal: “Brooklyn White Tie.”

• Hugh Jackman: “My understanding is this is called ‘White Tropical Dinner Jacket.’”

• Bradley Cooper: “If you read your Emily Post — which I know you do, Seth — his studs are onyx and they should’ve been mother of pearl.”

Fashion Video: Fall/Winter Collection “Personal Demon”

NY-based apparel company Nasty Pig shot their latest fashion collection video “Personal Demons” out at the Fire Island Pines, getting wet and gritty in the process.

Featured throughout the video is some of Fire Island’s most recognizable architecture.

And by the way – Don’t let the company name scare you – the video isn’t all that nasty. But it is sexy and cool.

Jenny McCarthy hosts 2(x)ist underwear fashion show

Jenny McCarthy hosted the 2(x)ist Fashion Show 2013 show at Arena on on October 11. The event was packed as guests enjoyed Skyy martinis and the hunky boys on the runway.

This year’s show benefited ZERO: The Project to End Prostrate Cancer.

Betsey Johnson stores to close

Popular New York fashion designer Betsey Johnson’s chain went bankrupt Thursday, and most of her 63 freestanding boutiques will close.  From the NY Daily News:

The filing will likely result in the dismissal of 350 employees and the closure of most of the brand’s 63 stores. It listed “severe liquidity problems” and $4.1 million in outstanding unsecured obligations owed to vendors, manufacturers, service providers and other creditors including jewelers, watchmakers, banks and accountants. Steve Madden, who has owned the 34-year-old brand’s intellectual property rights since 2010, said in an email that the group will continue to support the company and ensure existing orders will be produced and ship on time.

Her clothing will continue to be sold Saks and other high-end stores.

Betsey Johnson graduated from Syracuse University and spoke at my graduation.  I’ve always kept tabs on her success over the years having met her and having the S.U. connection.
