Gay Day Flash Mob at JC Penney today – spend your gay dollars in support

In a show of support for JC Penney in standing by their values and refusing to cave in to the ANTI-GAY ZEALOTS demanding Ellen be fired as Spokesperson:

Meet in front of JC Penney at 2 PM SHARP this Saturday in NYC and let’s buy some stuff! The gays love to shop and I’m sure there’s lots of merchandise to enjoy at JC Penney. T-shirts? Basics? Crew sock?

After “One Million Moms” threatened their own boycott – there’s really only about 40,000, not a million – show your support to JC Penney.

Here’s Ellen addressing the issue.

If you’re not in NYC or you can’t make it at 2 PM, shop online at JCPenney.com and when you check out add a note that you are shopping in support of Gay Day (Virtual) Flash Mob.

Let’s let JC Penney know that we appreciate their decision not to back down in the face of bigoted interests.

Ellen Degeneres on the so-called “Million Moms” boycott

On a show taped today for broadcast Wednesday, Ellen DeGeneres praised the 9th Circuit’s ruling on Proposition 8, and then addressed the AFA organization ‘One Million Moms’ for calling for her firing.

As you may know, the hate group ‘One Million Moms’ called for JC Penney to fire ellen as spokesperson because she is, in their words, an “open homosexual”.

Wrote the group:

“Funny that JC Penney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families. More sales will be lost than gained unless they replace their spokesperson quickly. Unless JC Penney decides to be neutral in the culture war then their brand transformation will be unsuccessful.”

Says Ellen: “Normally, I try not to pay attention to my haters — but this time I’d like to talk about it, because my haters are my motivators. This organization doesn’t think I should be the spokesperson because I’m gay,” DeGeneres continued. “They wanted to get me fired, and I’m proud and happy to say that JCPenney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson. Which is great news for me because I also need some new crew socks. I’m really going to clean up with this discount.”

Ellen then read some of the comments from her supporters on the ‘Million Moms’ Facebook page – which really only has 40,353 followers, so I think the “Million Moms” thing is kind of false advertising.

Said Ellen: “I usually don’t talk about stuff like this on my show, but I really want to thank everyone who is supporting me. Here are the values I stand for. I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you’d want to be treated and helping those in need.To me, those are traditional values. That’s what I stand for…I also believe in dance.”

JC Penney stands by Ellen Degeneres – rebuffs hate group

Via GLAAD: Last week, retail giant J.C. Penney announced a new partnership with America’s favorite talk-show host, Ellen DeGeneres.

“We share the same fundamental values as Ellen,” noted the company’s President, Michael Francis. “At jcpenney, we couldn’t think of a better partner to help us put the fun back into the retail experience.”

Now, however, the anti-gay group “OneMillionMoms.com, a project of the American Family Association” – an organization designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) – has launched a campaign demanding that the retailer fire Ellen simply because she’s gay. According to SPLC, “hate groups have beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics.”

“DeGeneres is not a true representation of the type of families that shop at their store,” says the group.

But a majority of Americans disagree. Today, more people than ever celebrate the love of every family – gay or straight – and know that no person should be ridiculed, much less fired, simply for being who they are. Even today, Americans can be fired in 29 states for being gay and in 34 states for being transgender.
