LA News Anchor’s Death Ruled Drug Overdose During Hookup Gone Bad

A Los Angeles news anchor, found dead on December 27, 2018, in a Days Inn motel, died of methamphetamine toxicity according to the coroner.

The Los Angeles Times reports that KTLA anchor Chris Burrous met with another man after connecting on the gay hook up app, Grindr.

The other man, whom the 43-year-old journalist had met on several occasions, called for medical attention when Burrous reportedly put at least two meth ‘rocks’ in his anus during the hookup. He soon passed out and became unresponsive.

Both the man and paramedics attempted CPR but to no avail. Burrous was declared dead at a hospital.

The coroner indicated in his report that hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease played a part in Burrous’ death.

According to Variety, the drug GHB was also found in the hotel room, but not in Burrous’ system. The other man was not charged with any crime.

After spending several years hosting Good Morning Sacramento, Burrous relocated to Los Angeles taking on weekend anchoring duties for the KTLA Morning News.

Burrous is survived by his wife and a nine-year-old daughter.

UPDATE: According to Demi’s rep, she is now “awake and responsive.”

••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Demi Lovato was apparently hospitalized on Tuesday in Los Angeles after a suspected heroin overdose, according to TMZ.

TMZ reports Lovato was transported from her Hollywood Hills home shortly before noon today to a local hospital.

Paramedics reportedly found Lovato unconscious upon arrival at her home.

The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer’s condition is not currently known.

The 25-year-old actress and pop star has struggled with alcohol, cocaine and Oxycontin abuse for years.

In June, she released her song, “Sober,” as she shared that she had relapsed shortly after celebrating six years of sobriety.

Lovato was scheduled to perform at an upcoming date in Atlantic City. No announcement on whether she’ll make that date.

The singer is one of the biggest names on social media, with a combined following of over 145 million.

‘Storm Chasers’ Star Died Of Deadly Mix of Ecstasy, Ketamine & Ambien

In late January, Joel Taylor, the out host of Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers, was found unconscious in his cabin aboard a gay cruise.

The reality TV star died amid rumors that party drugs were “flowing freely” among some passengers on the Harmony of the Sea owned by Royal Caribbean and charted by gay cruise company, Atlantis Events.

I should add that I actually boarded the ship in Puerto Rico on the same day that Taylor’s body was removed from the ship for autopsy.

The FBI launched an investigation into the death and Taylor’s toxicology lab results have just been revealed.

The report from the Bureau of Forensic Sciences of Puerto Rico shows the 38-year-old’s death was the result of an accidental overdose involving a deadly mix of drugs including “tricyclic antidepressants,” MDMA, Ketamine, and Zolpidem (a version of Ambien).

MDA, a derivative of amphetamines, was also found in his system.

There were rumors that GHB was the cause, but the newly-released toxicology report did not find any traces of the drug in his system at the time of death.

According to The Blast, testing took much longer than usual since the lab testing machines in Puerto Rico broke, and Taylor’s samples had to be sent to the U.S. for analyzing.
