Trump: Disarm Hillary’s Bodyguards And “Let’s See What Happens To Her”

Donald Trump, during a campaign rally, told a crowd again (erroneously) that Hillary Clinton wants to take their 2nd Amendment rights away.

He followed that by saying the armed bodyguards she travels with should disarm if she hates guns so much, adding, “Let’s see what happens to her.”

Another physical threat?

“Donald Trump has spent years peddling lies about President Obama. And that didn’t stop today.”

Donald Trump: President Obama Was Born In The United States. Period.

With a wave of his hand and two short sentences, Donald Trump tries to make the ‘birther’ issue magically disappear without taking any responsibility for trying to delegitimize Barack Obama’s presidency.

“Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther controversy. I finished it. I finished it, you know what I mean. President Barack Obama was born in the United States. Period.”

Please note how different media outlets announced the news. I think Buzzfeed gets it right.

Hell Freezes Over – Donald Trump Admits President Obama Was Born In USA

The news unfolded tonight thusly:

First, Republican presidential candidate and foremost birther conspiracy theorist Donald Trump refused to admit whether or not President Obama was born in the USA.

From Washington Post:

In the interview, conducted late Wednesday aboard his private plane as it idled on the tarmac here, Trump suggested he is not eager to change his pitch or his positions even as he works to reach out to minority voters, many of whom are deeply offended by his long-refuted suggestion that Obama is not a U.S. citizen. Trump refused to say whether he believes Obama was born in Hawaii.

“I’ll answer that question at the right time. I just don’t want to answer it yet,” Trump said.

When asked whether his campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, was accurate when she said recently that he now believes Obama was born in this country, Trump responded: “It’s okay. She’s allowed to speak what she thinks. I want to focus on jobs, I want to focus on other things.”

He added, “I don’t talk about it anymore. The reason I don’t is because then everyone is going to be talking about it as opposed to jobs, the military, the vets, security.”

And within minutes of that statement, Jason Miller of the Trump campaign released a statement saying Donald Trump does, in fact, believe the President was born in Hawaii.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign first raised this issue to smear then-candidate Barack Obama in her very nasty, failed 2008 campaign for President. This type of vicious and conniving behavior is straight from the Clinton Playbook. As usual, however, Hillary Clinton was too weak to get an answer. Even the MSNBC show Morning Joe admits that it was Clinton’s henchmen who first raised this issue, not Donald J. Trump.

In 2011, Mr. Trump was finally able to bring this ugly incident to its conclusion by successfully compelling President Obama to release his birth certificate. Mr. Trump did a great service to the President and the country by bringing closure to the issue that Hillary Clinton and her team first raised. Inarguably, Donald J. Trump is a closer. Having successfully obtained President Obama’s birth certificate when others could not, Mr. Trump believes that President Obama was born in the United States.

As has been mentioned many, many times, the idea that Hillary Clinton originated the ‘birther’ theory has been debunked as false. In 2015, PolitiFact proved the claim to be false. “Clinton’s campaign, one of the most thoroughly dissected in modern history, never raised questions about the future president’s citizenship.”

A couple of things here.

If Trump felt the “ugly incident” was brought to a close in 2011, why did it take over five years for him to admit it? Because he was still promoting the idea a year later. See the tweet below from 2012:

Also, note that the statement is not directly from Trump but a surrogate. When will we hear the actual words from Trump himself? Trump should either own it or denounce it himself – not a surrogate.

My thoughts are that Trump wanted this off the table before the first presidential debate. But does it? Surely there will be questions like mine?

Donald Trump Promises 35% Tax On Mexican Made Cars

Donald Trump seems to think he can impose taxes at will.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he would impose a 35% tax on any cars made in Mexico to keep companies from moving out of the US. Discussing a scenario where a car company wanted to build a plant in Mexico, Trump stated, “What would President Trump do? So I’d call the head of Ford, or whatever company, but I’d call the head of Ford. I’d say, ‘Congratulations, I understand you’re building a massive plant, in Mexico, and you’re taking a lot of jobs away from us in Michigan and other places. I don’t like that. I don’t like it. I just don’t like it.’ And he’ll say, ‘Well, Mr. President. It’s wonderful, wonderful for the economy. Oh, great, just great.’

“It’s wonderful for whose economy? Not for our economy. We lose on everything. We lose on jobs. We lose on money. We lose on everything. So, what I’d say is the following: ‘I don’t want you to do that. And if you do it, you’re not going to have any cars coming across the border unless you pay a 35% tax.’ That’s it. That’s it. No, that’s it! And they’re going to say — they’re going to say to me, ‘Mr. President, please, please, please.’ Now, I guarantee you. Let’s say I make this call at 9:00 in the morning, by 5:00 in the afternoon, I think the deal is done, they move back to the United States.”

Donald Trump Supporter Punches 69 Year Old Woman In The Face At Campaign Rally

So can we all agree that THIS Trump supporter is deplorable?

Police have announced plans to arrest Richard Campbell of South Carolina for assaulting a woman after a Donald Trump rally Monday night in Asheville, North Carolina.

Campbell allegedly punched 69 year old Shirley Teter, who wears an oxygen mask and portable oxygen tank, outside the Trump event.

From WLOS:

“Why did I get involved yesterday, at my age? Because I ran into another situation that was sickening my heart,” she said Tuesday afternoon, outside Cafe 64 in downtown Asheville.

Protesters met Trump supporters before the rally, and Teter was having fun.

“Whenever groups of them would start chanting ‘Trump! Trump! Trump! Trump!’ I would chant back, ‘Dump! Dump! Dump! Dump!’ It was kind of comical,” Teter said.

After the rally, Teter experienced something she had never seen in all of her protests. Peace teetered over into something else.

“I said, ‘You better learn to speak Russian,’ and I said, ‘The first two words are going to be ha ha.’ He stopped in his tracks, and he turned around and just cold-cocked me,” Teter said.

She was punched in the face.

She says she fell on her oxygen tank and has sore ribs, a sore jaw, and cut her elbow. She later went to the hospital and is thankful she did not break any bones.

According to News 13, called the station back after her interview asking if people find a Trump supporter punching her in the face deplorable.

You’ve got to love her sense of humor.

Campaign Ad Highlights Trump’s “Donation” To Florida Attorney General Bondi

The Clinton campaign released this new campaign ad just hours after the New York State Attorney General’s announcement that he will be investigating the Trump Foundation for possible illegal or corrupt practices.

From Politico:

“You’ve probably heard Trump talk about the Clinton Foundation, but you might not have heard that while he attacks one of America’s top charities, his foundation has been fined for an illegal donation,” a narrator intones, as graphics showing the Clinton Foundation’s top ratings from Charity Watch, GuideStar and Charity Navigator are displayed on screen.

“She cashed the check, blocked the case, and he tried to cover up the donation,” the ad alleges, before concluding with a picture of a hard hat-wearing Trump grinning in front of workers. “So, when you hear Donald Trump talk about corrupt politics, remember which candidate actually practices it.”

You’ll recall that in 2013, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s office announced it was looking into joining a class action suit against Trump University. At the same time, Bondi asked Donald Trump for a campaign donation.

Three days later, Trump’s $25,000 check arrived in Florida. Within days Bondi announced she would not be following up on the Trump U. action.

Put another way, imagine you were robbed. Before the robber is charged he makes a campaign donation to the police chief, and the next thing you know charges are not filed and he’s set free.

Smell right to you?

Steve King: “I Want To Promote The ‘Natural’ Family”

Republican Congressman Steve King of Iowa, appearing on CNN’s New Day, told anchor Chris Cuomo that he wants to support the “natural family.”

The response was to a question as to whether Donald Trump’s child care plan would protect LGBT families. When Cuomo asked what King meant by “natural family,” King replied, “A man and a woman hopefully joined together in holy matrimony (emphasis on “holy”) blessed by God with children.”

Cuomo didn’t stop there. Cuomo mentioned the social research that shows children in same-sex families do just as well or better as those in heterosexual familes, King demurred.

“I think I’d need to look a little further into some of that research. You know we got down in the global warming argument and found out there was another side to that equation, too.”

It went on from there. Truly knuckle dragging stuff here.

Kudos to Cuomo and CNN for not letting King slide his backwards world view past the viewers.

This is what you get with Trump and his ilk.

CNN Anchor Asks For Proof Donald Trump Is Being Audited

Now here’s something we haven’t seen before.

For a year, Donald Trump has told the media that he would be happy to release his tax returns save for the fact he’s being audited by the IRS.

The IRS has said repeatedly that their office has no problem with him releasing his tax returns. Trump maintains that after the audit is complete he will release them.

Of course, he could release earlier returns like from the year 2008 which is not being audited. Trump declines to release anything.

Today, CNN New Day  anchor Alisyn Camerota asked again when the tax returns would be released. Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway repeated “after the audit.”

But then something unusual happened, in a followup question Camerota asked if the campaign would provide some kind of documentation that an audit is actually occurring.

“Has Donald Trump, or will he, release anything from the IRS — a letter from the IRS — proving that he’s under audit?”

Conway had to ask Camerota to repeat the question, clearly needing to buy time to figure out what to say.

She eventually came up with this: “I don’t know. Why? In other words — why, why are you — Are you calling him a liar? Are you calling him a liar?”
