Poll: Trump Falls To 32% Approval Rating

The latest Pew Research Center survey shows Donald Trump at his lowest level yet – only 32% approve of the job Trump is doing; a disconcerting 63% disapprove.

Additionally, 59% believe senior members of the Trump administration “definitely” or “probably” had improper contacts with Russia during last year’s presidential campaign.

And 55% are “very” or “somewhat” confident Special Counsel Robert Mueller will conduct a fair investigation.

Sen. Al Franken Slaps At Donald Trump & Roy Moore In Resignation Speech


 “I, of all people, am aware that there is some irony in the fact that I am leaving while a man who has bragged on tape about his history of sexual assault sits in the Oval Office and a man who has repeatedly preyed on young girls campaigns for the Senate with the full support of his party,” 

-Sen Al Franken on the floor of the U.S. Senate in his speech announcing his resignation amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

While the Democrats in Congress take the proverbial “high road” in callng for Franken’s departure based on allegations, the Republicans show no such leaning as they remain silent on Donald Trump’s 13 accusers of sexual misconduct and Alabama Republican Roy Moore seems headed to a Senate win even as a dozen women allege sexual impropriety on his part.

Hypocrisy much?

Twitter Announces Top Tweets Of 2017 And Trump Is Nowhere To Be Found

Twitter announced the top “Liked” and “Retweeted” posts of 2017, and the results might be a bit unexpected for some folks.

Considering the turmoil and angst Donald Trump creates with his favorite social media platform, it’s surprising that Trump is nowhere to be found on either list.

The big news is that none of the year’s ten most-retweeted tweets are by Donald Trump. Instead, three are by Barack Obama—and two of the top three most-liked tweets are Obama’s, too. (The second-most-liked tweet is from the singer Ariana Grande, written after the bombing at her Manchester concert, in May.)

In perception, this has been the year of D.J.T. on Twitter, tramping like an angry wildebeest across the civic turf. But, according to the company’s numbers, the largest footprint on the landscape has really been B.H.O.’s.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion,” goes Obama’s most-liked post of 2017, with 4.6 million hearts. (It also had 2.7 million retweets, making it No. 2 on that list.) The quote is from Nelson Mandela, and the included photo is of Obama hanging out with toddlers of many skin colors.

Below that, at No. 5, is President Obama’s official valediction (“I’m asking you to believe—not in my ability to create change, but in yours”), and, at No. 8, his final wave goodbye (“It’s been the honor of my life to serve you. You made me a better leader and a better man”). His note to Senator John McCain, after the announcement of his brain cancer (“Give it hell, John”), is the third-most-favorited.

The article goes on to say one reason Obama’s tweets land so much better is they tend to be of a nature that folks are proud to be associated with. In other words, uplifting.

Another thought is that Obama’s supporters make a point to underscore Obama’s tweets as method of poking at Trump’s followers.

Donald Trump Endorses Accused Child Molester Roy Moore In Alabama Senate Race

The chyron says it all…

Donald Trump has wholeheartedly endorsed accused child molester Roy Moore in the Alabama Senate race to be held in 8 days.

Via The New York Post:

“Just got off the phone with President Trump who offered his full support and said he needs a fighter to help him in the US Senate. I look forward to fighting alongside the President to #MAGA!” Moore wrote on Twitter, adding that the president exhorted him to “Go get ‘em, Roy!”

The White House also released a statement confirming Trump’s endorsement of the former judge.

“The President had a positive call with Judge Roy Moore during which they discussed the state of the Alabama Senate race and the President endorsed Judge Moore’s campaign,” spokesman Raj Shah said.

Moore’s wife also crowed about the president’s call on Facebook.

“Judge Moore just got off the phone with President Trump — we have his full support! Thank you Mr. President! Let’s MAGA!” Kayla Moore posted.

Billy Bush Reflects On Trump’s Infamous Candid Camera Moment: “He Said It”

As rumors swirl that Donald Trump is attempting to take back his admission that he said “Grab’em by the pussy” on video tape, Billy Bush, former host of Access Hollywood and The Today Show, reflects on witnessing Trump’s infamous candid camera moment for The New York Times.

Bush begins:

He said it. “Grab ’em by the pussy.”

Of course he said it. And we laughed along, without a single doubt that this was hypothetical hot air from America’s highest-rated bloviator. Along with Donald Trump and me, there were seven other guys present on the bus at the time, and every single one of us assumed we were listening to a crass standup act. He was performing. Surely, we thought, none of this was real.

We now know better.

Recently I sat down and read an article dating from October of 2016; it was published days after my departure from NBC, a time when I wasn’t processing anything productively. In it, the author reviewed the various firsthand accounts about Mr. Trump that, at that point, had come from 20 women.

Some of what Natasha Stoynoff, Rachel Crooks, Jessica Leeds and Jill Harth alleged involved forceful kissing. Ms. Harth said he pushed her up against a wall, with his hands all over her, trying to kiss her.

“He was relentless,” she said. “I didn’t know how to handle it.” Her story makes the whole “better use some Tic Tacs” and “just start kissing them” routine real. I believe her.

Kristin Anderson said that Mr. Trump reached under her skirt and “touched her vagina through her underwear” while they were at a New York nightclub in the 1990s. That makes the “grab ’em by the pussy” routine real. I believe her.

President Trump is currently indulging in some revisionist history, reportedly telling allies, including at least one United States senator, that the voice on the tape is not his. This has hit a raw nerve in me.

I can only imagine how it has reopened the wounds of the women who came forward with their stories about him, and did not receive enough attention. This country is currently trying to reconcile itself to years of power abuse and sexual misconduct. Its leader is wantonly poking the bear.

Donald Trump Trashes FBI, Says Bureau’s Reputation Is In “Tatters”

Two days after former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI regarding conversation he had the Russian ambassador, Donald Trump took to Twitter (where else?) to attack the FBI.

Calling the former FBI director James Comey a liar, Trump tweeted, “After years of Comey, with the phony and dishonest Clinton investigation (and more), running the FBI, its reputation is in Tatters – worst in History! But fear not, we will bring it back to greatness.”

Trump On Flynn Plea Deal: “There’s Been No Collusion So We’re Very Happy”

Even as all of Washington, D.C. was agog at the news of former national security adviser Michael Flynn pleading guilty to lying to the FBI and that he will be “fully cooperating” with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation, the White House has tried to spin these events into “no news.”

This morning, speaking to reporters, Donald Trump made a point of repeating, “What has been shown is no collusion,” he said. “No collusion. There’s been absolutely no collusion so we’re very happy.”

But behind the scenes, Trump is not so confident. According to several sources close to Trump, he has been concerned for some time that “Flynn turned on me.”

For weeks, Trump has vented privately to advisers and confidants about his anxiety over signs that Flynn had flipped. He noted the possibility that Flynn had “turned on me,” three sources close to the president independently recall him saying. These sources had relayed details of these conversations to The Daily Beast over the course of the past week.

Trump’s fears came into sharp focus this past month, as several media outlets began to report that Flynn appeared to be cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

The president—an avid and voracious consumer of Twitter and cable news—began privately fuming, according to an administration official and two outside allies of Trump. Two of the three sources noted that it sounded at times as if Trump felt personally hurt by the prospect that someone whom he admired professionally and liked personally had potentially turned.

Trump later tweeted that Flynn’s “actions during the transition were lawful.”

Because, folks always lie about “lawful” actions, right?
