Trump Slaps Back At Jay-Z For “Superbug” Racist Label

President Trump slapped back at rapper Jay-Z after the music icon described the Trumpster as a racist “superbug.”

From The New York Daily News:

The “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” rapper blasted Trump a day earlier for allegedly referring to Haiti and some African nations as “shithole countries” during a meeting on immigration.

“Everyone feels anger, but after the anger it’s really hurtful because he’s looking down on a whole population of people and he’s so misinformed because these places have beautiful people,” he told CNN’s “The Van Jones Show” in an interview that aired Saturday.

Trump allegedly made the comments to a group of senators during a meeting earlier this month to fix the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

“You don’t take the trash out,” he said during his CNN interview. “You keep spraying whatever over it to make it acceptable and then, you know, as those things grow, then you create a superbug.”

“And then now we have Donald Trump, the superbug.”

But he then took a softer tone on his fellow New York native, saying the President “is a human being, too.”

“Somewhere along his lineage, something happened to him,” he said. “And he’s in pain and he’s expressing it in this sort of way.”

In an attempt to punch back at Jay-Z, Trump tweeted, “Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!”

Van Jones had asked Jay-Z about the black unemployment figures and whether or not more jobs made up for the hurtful Trump rhetoric aimed at blacks.

Jay-Z said no “because it’s not about money at the end of the day. Money doesn’t equate to happiness. It doesn’t. That’s missing the whole point.”

While it is true that unemployment for black Americans, currently at 6.8%, is at the lowest rate in many years, it’s disingenuous for Trump to take all the credit.

The unemployment numbers for black Americans has steadily declined since early 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s years before Trump arrived at the White House.

Stormy Daniels To Appear On Jimmy Kimmel After Trump’s State Of The Union Address

It’s not the Democratic response after Donald Trump’s State of the Union address I’ll be looking forward to.

Oh no, it’s the response of porn star Stormy Daniels who will be appearing on Jimmy Kimmel’s show after Trump’s address on Tuesday evening.

As you may know by now, Daniels was alleged to have had an affair with Trump in 2006 just months after his son Barron was born to wife Melania.

There are multiple reports that Daniels was paid $130,000 in hush money at the end of the 2016 election to avoid embarrassing Trump.

Will she address any questions about the alleged affair? During an interview on Inside Edition this week, Daniels just smiled when asked if she had a sexual relationship with Trump.

I’m betting Kimmel finds an amusing way to address her non-answers.

GLAAD: LGBT Acceptance Drops For 1st Time Under President Trump

Remember when Donald Trump told LGBTs he would be “much better for the gays?”

Yeah, not so much.

Via press release from GLAAD:

GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, today announced the findings of its fourth annual Accelerating Acceptance report, a national survey among more than 2,100 U.S. adults conducted on GLAAD’s behalf by The Harris Poll. The results were announced during a panel discussion hosted by GLAAD and The Ariadne Getty Foundation at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

For the first time in the report’s history, GLAAD and The Harris Poll found a drop in acceptance of LGBTQ people. As President Trump prepares to address the heads of state, business leaders, and largest philanthropists at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, GLAAD is on the ground in Davos to shine the spotlight on the rollback of LGBTQ acceptance, debut new initiatives, and be the lead voice for LGBTQ people around the globe.

Less than half of non-LGBTQ adults (49 percent) reported being “very” or “somewhat” comfortable with LGBTQ people across seven situations. This is a significant decline from 53 percent last year and the first time the Accelerating Acceptance report has shown a drop in acceptance for LGBTQ people.

GLAAD and The Harris Poll found that 55 percent of LGBTQ adults reported experiencing discrimination because of sexual orientation or gender identity. This number is a significant 11 percentage point increase from the previous year (44 percent).

There was a decline in non-LGBTQ adults’ comfortability around LGBTQ people, particularly in more personal situations. Compared to last year’s results, significantly more respondents noted that they would be uncomfortable learning a family member is LBGTQ (30 percent vs. 27 percent), having their child’s teacher be LGBTQ (31 percent vs. 28 percent), and learning their doctor is LGBTQ (31 percent vs. 28 percent).

Christian Hypocrisy: Trump Gets A “Mulligan” For Personal Failings

In an interview with Politico’s “Off Message” podcast, anti-LGBT right-winger Tony Perkins said that conservative Evangelicals have basically given Donald Trump a “mulligan” for his personal failings regarding alleged affairs and the infamous “grab’em by the pussy” comment on video.

Perkins made it clear that as long as Trump’s policies stay in line with far-right conservatives, they’re willing to turn a blind eye to his personal issues and racist comments.

Similarly, in a recent CNN interview, evangelical leader Franklin Graham also swept Trump’s personal shortcomings aside saying, “These alleged affairs, they’re alleged with Trump, didn’t happen while he was in office.”

“This happened 11, 12, 13, 14 years ago,” he said. “And so, I think there is a big difference and not that we give anybody a pass, but we have to look at the timeline and that was before he was in office.”

Responding to those comments on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” former RNC chairman Michael Steele was not having any of that:

“I have very simple admonition: just shut the hell up and don’t preach to me about anything ever again. I don’t want to hear it, because after telling me who to love, what to believe, what to do and what not to do and now you sit back and the prostitutes don’t matter, the grabbing the you-know-what doesn’t matter, the outright behavior and lies don’t matter, just shut up! They have no voice of authority anymore for me.”

Poll: Americans Are Split On Whether Trump Is Mentally Stable Or Not

This surely isn’t how Donald Trump envisioned beginning his second year in the White House.

A new poll from ABC News/Washington Post shows substanially more Americans give President Obama the credit for the ongoing positive economic situation.

Specifically, only 38% of those polled say today’s economic conditions are a “great deal/good amount” a result of Trump’s efforts,  while 50% say Obama gets the credit.

Additionally, the country is split on whether or not Trump is mentally stable – 48% say he is, 47% say no.

And though Trump tells us all he has “the best brain,” 73% of Americans don’t think he’s a genius; a small 21% agree with the Trumpster on that one, though.

#TrumpShutdown Continues As “Great Dealmaker” Goes AWOL

With 60 votes necessary to pass a Continuing Resolution bill which would keep the federal government open and operating, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s bill fell way short last night with only 50 ‘yes’ votes while 49 senators voted ‘no.’

Sen. John McCain wasn’t present due to his ongoing cancer battle.

The legislation, on top of keeping the government open for four more weeks while a budget would, in theory, be hammered out also included a 6-year extension in the Childrens Health Insurance Program which Republicans allowed to expire months ago.

Clearly, McConnell has held this in his backpocket to use as leverage to get the budget he wants.

But Senate Democrats held to their guns saying not only should CHIP be addressed (and it should) but also the issue of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program or ‘Dreamers’ needs to be resolved now.

Several months ago, Donald Trump decided to end the program at random. Without DACA in force, 800,000 young people who were brought to the U.S. as children and live here without a criminal record could be deported.

So, here we are today as Senate and House leaders try to figure out how to solve this impasse.

Donald Trump, who apparently agreed to a deal that would address all of these issues last week, now says he is not willing to negotiate anything that deals with DACA for now. Many Washington insiders are blaming white nationalist and Trump adviser Stephen Miller who opposes any kind of immigration reform.

And so, we wait.

This is the first time a furlough of federal employees has occurred under single-party control of Congress and the White House. That would be the Republicans.

According to a recent poll, 48% of voters would hold Trump and the Republicans responsible for the government shutdown, only 28% would blame Democrats.

Where is the “Great Dealmaker?” Where is the “Great Negotiator” who says he knows how to bring people together to get a deal done?

Oh, that reminds me: today is the first anniversary of Donald Trump’s inauguration as president.

It only took a year for him to shut down the government.

Trump Breaks Modern Record For White House Staff Departures

Maybe they’re just not into him?

Donald Trump breaks yet another record, although this isn’t really one to be proud of in my estimation.

Donald Trump has seen more turnover in White House staff during his first year in office than any president in modern history.

According to The Washington Post’s Monkey Cage, here’s the percentage of folks leaving their White House positions within year one:

Ronald Reagan: 17%

George H.W. Bush: 7%

Bill Clinton: 11%

George W. Bush: 6%

Barack Obama: 9%

Donald Trump: 34%

Supreme Court To Hear Arguments Over Trump Travel Ban

The Trump administration is heading to a showdown at the U.S. Supreme Court over Donald Trump’s third attempt to limit travel from certain countries based on national security concerns.

SCOTUS announced today the high court will hear oral arguments in the spring with a decision due by June.

From The New York Times:

The case concerns Mr. Trump’s third and most considered bid to make good on a campaign promise to secure the nation’s borders. But challengers to the latest ban, issued as a presidential proclamation in September, said it was tainted by religious animus and not adequately justified by national security concerns.

The decision to hear the case, Trump v. Hawaii, No. 17-965, came almost a year after the first travel ban, issued a week after Mr. Trump took office, caused chaos at the nation’s airports and was promptly blocked by courts around the nation. A second version of the ban, issued in March, fared little better, though the Supreme Court allowed part of it go into effect in June when it agreed to hear the Trump administration’s appeals in two cases.

The ban restricts travel from eight nations, six of them predominantly Muslim. For now, most citizens of Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Chad and North Korea will be barred from entering the United States, along with some groups of people from Venezuela.
