Seriously, do I have to type anything else?
Dogs rule.
Just one more story that shows how dogs rock as members of our families.
Benjamin and Hope Jordan moved to Charleston, S.C., with their 7-month-old son, Finn, last year.
They decided to hire 22-year-old Alexis Khan to babysit Finn when they were busy. She passed a background check with flying colors, and they felt good about their decision.
The Jordans say about five months into Khan’s babysitting, they started noticing their normally friendly dog, Killian, was very protective of Finn and aggressive when Khan came near their son.
So they decided to place an iPhone under the couch and record what happened when Khan was alone with Finn. What they heard included slapping noises and the voice of Khan saying “Shut up, shut the f— up. Shut up.”
After listening to the recording, the outraged parents immediately took their son to the hospital. Fortunately, doctors gave Finn a clean bill of health.
Charleston City Police arrested Khan, and she has since confessed to abusing Finn. As part of her plea, she will be put on a child abuse registry, which will prevent her from working with children again.
And as for Killian, he’s not finished being a hero yet. He’s currently training to be a psychiatric service dog.

Ok, so cute dogs, hunky guys in designer underwear and puppy play-time.
What’s not to like?
Very cute.
My dogs don’t seem to “get” TV, although my NYC dog Sophie clearly watched what was happening on the screen.

“On behalf of the American Kennel Club, our member clubs, and the American purebred dog fancy, we urge you to move the 2016 World Dog Show from Russia to a nation that respects and upholds human rights for all its citizens. The international dog community deserves to enjoy the World Dog Show in a place that stands for freedom and equal rights for all. AKC cannot and will not support participation in the 2016 World Dog Show if it is held in Russia.
“As exhibitors, breeders, handlers and trainers, we teach our dogs many things. But there is no denying, they teach us too. Our bond with dogs is not defined by the type of person who holds the leash. We cannot support competition in an environment where tolerance does not exist.” – From the chairman and the CEO of the American Kennel Club.

First of all – God, do I love my dogs.
Our furry family members make us all smile so much.
Here’s to “savoring Saturday moments” with our cats and dogs (I hate the word ‘pets’ – it seems disrespectful).

| Back in the day – (left to right) Bandit, Bear and Tyler |
Ten years ago today, our mama dog Sabrina and daddy dog Bruno brought “the puppies” (the only way we’ve ever referred to them) into our lives. Michael and I love these kids with all our heart.
Their personalities are so different and specific and funny and dear. I couldn’t love them more.
To share a little: Tyler (first born) is the only girl and a little ‘challenged.’ So, often, she’ll want you to pick her up then stare at you because she’ll forget what she wanted.
Bandit (second born) was the smallest as a puppy, and then his appetite developed. He’s always first to eat his food and always wants more. He can’t get enough attention, and if you pet him with one hand he wonders what you’re doing with the hand that isn’t busy since you COULD be petting him with both.
And Bear is the baby, and still acts like it. He’s the shyest of the three but every now and then shows some courage. He generally likes to be alone more than the others. He’s “the prince of April Wind” (our street).
Happy, happy birthday Tyler, Bandit and Bear!

You may not remember the name, but you’ll remember the picture…
A 20-year-old dog from Bayfield made famous across the globe thanks to a touching picture with its owner, has passed away.
A Facebook post Thursday afternoon by John Unger, the owner of Schoep, states the dog passed away on Wednesday.
“I Breathe But I Can’t Catch My Breath. Schoep passed yesterday. More information in the days ahead,” Unger’s post said.
The picture that went viral last year (above) featured Unger and Schoep floating in the waters of Lake Superior.
Shoep suffered from arthritis and had trouble sleeping, so to ease his pain, Unger would take him swimming. Sometimes for hours, Unger would hold Shoep so he could float and sleep as the water eased his pain. The look on Shoep’s face tells the story.
John Unger, my best thoughts are with you. RIP Shoep.
