Darren Criss To Star In Broadway’s Hedwig And The Angry Inch

GLEE’s Darren Criss to star on Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Inch

 GLEE star Darren Criss has stepped up to be the next actor to star in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Beginning April 29 for a 12-week limited engagement at the Belasco Theatre, Criss will succeed Hedwig co-creator and original Off-Broadway star John Cameron Mitchell in the lead role of an East German transgender rocker.

Book writer John Cameron Mitchell said, “I’ve got a grin plastered on my face that Darren is joining the brotherhood of Hedwigs. I LOVED him in How to Succeed. His stage presence is electrifying, his rock and roll credentials and comic timing impeccable and I’m thrilled to be working with him to create a brand-new Hedwig!”

This is Criss’ second run on the Great White Way.  In 2012 Criss took over the lead in the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying for three sold-out weeks, which brought in over $4 million at the box office.

Darren Criss – A fan licked my face

Darren Criss is this month’s ‘Cosmo Guy‘.

In a short Q&A, Cosmo asks Criss if he ever feels the need to externalize his heterosexuality because he’s playing gay on TV:

No. I know who I am. I feel bad for guys who have to flex their muscles. But hey, if that’s the way to make yourself feel comfortable as a man—as long as it isn’t antagonizing anybody—go for it. I’m okay with your getting a Miata to feel like a dude; just don’t be a dick about it.

He also describes a pretty “wet and wild” encounter with a Gleek:

A guy licked my face—straight up grabbed my head and licked my face.

Darren Criss talks on the death of Cory Monteith with Conan O’Brien

During a recent appearance, Conan O’Brien asked Criss how the cast of GLEE is handling the July 13 death of Monteith:

“We’re picking up the pieces now and there’s two things you got to remember about Cory: One, he was a really funny guy. He had a great sense of humor; he loved life. He always took care of his friends, he wanted his friends to be happy, so it’s only right that we try and start to smile again, try and laugh again. It’s something he would have wanted.”

Darren Criss announces his first music tour

 

 According to Billboard, Criss’ 16-city LISTEN UP tour will kick off on May 29 in San Francisco will make stops in both the United States and Canada. Darren will be preview new material from his forthcoming debut album, which will reportedly be released on Columbia Records.

Criss said in a statement: “I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the summer than being on the road and doing live shows. I wanted to do something bigger than what I’ve done before — more cities and new music. It’s a real opportunity for me to connect with all the people who’ve supported me through the years, as well as a chance to get new folks excited. It’s gonna be a party for everyone!”

Darren Criss and Matt Bomer sneak peak for GLEE

On April 10, Glee welcomes White Collar hunk Matt Bomer as “Cooper Anderson” – the older brother of Darren Criss’ Blaine, and TVLine has an exclusive first look at the siblings in mid-reunion.

The Anderson brothers are set to perform a mash-up of classics from ’80s supergroup Duran Duran in the episode, which is appropriately titled “Big Brother.”
