Channing Tatum photo shoot & interview for OUT

Channing Tatum, during a photo shoot for OUT Magazine, talks about his highly-anticipated MAGIC MIKE movie. The movie is very loosely based on his own experiences as a 19 year old who took a job in a male strip show.

Tatum didn’t intend to be a stripper. He heard an announcement on the radio and thought he might as well add it to his resume of random jobs — framing houses, working at a puppy nursery, selling credit cards to students — that sustained his hardcore club life. “I never enjoyed the taking-the-clothes-off part,” he recalls. “You are on a stage with people yelling at you, and you feel you’re a rock star, but you’re nothing — you’re just a guy taking off his clothes, looking like a fool in a stupid outfit.”

In comparing the movie male revue to the Chippendales, Channing says “what Chippendales does is a big, Vegas type show.  This is a smaller, rinky-dink, small town type show.”

In addition to MAGIC MIKE, Channing shares about his humble upbringing. He grew up in Alabama, in what he calls a straight-up middle-class family. His dad was a roofer, until he fell off a roof and damaged his back. His mom worked for AAA. He describes his older sister as “the dog’s bollocks, just the sickest chick on the face of the planet,” and is candid about the world he grew up in.

“My uncle Bruce is about as country as you get,” he says. “He’s not OK with interracial stuff, probably, and I don’t think he’d met a gay man before my wedding. Where I’m from, there’s not a lot of out gay men.”

New, bigger, better Magic Mike movie trailer!

And now, we get a little more to see.

You know what I mean when I say that, right?

Focusing on Alex Pettyfer’s character instead of Tatum’s love story, the new trailer shows a lot more strip club action — including a shot of all the guys in their thongs. Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer and Adam Rodriguez are also seen in the video in various states of undress.

We also get a look at the guy’s routines, like Joe’s fireman act and Bomer’s Ken doll number.

This movie is going to be fun.

Go ahead, watch it again…

It’s getting hotter in here: Magic Mike cast on EW

From EW: In honor of Channing Tatum, the star of 21 Jump Street and The Vow whose stint as a stripper inspired Magic Mike (out June 29), this week’s cover does a little striptease of its own. Once you’ve taken in the sight of Tatum looking dapper all by himself, the flaps open to reveal a photo of him with his Magic Mike pals Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello (True Blood), and Matt Bomer (White Collar), all of whom play dancers at a male revue in the R-rated drama, directed by Steven Soderbergh.

Whoa! Next celebrity guest at Chippendales: Joey Lawrence

It’s going to get even hotter than usual in Las Vegas this summer as the Chippendales will welcome the talented (and hot) Joey Lawrence as their special celebrity guest MC and singer.

For three weeks starting June 7th through June 24th, Joey Lawrence will flex his muscles and vocal cords as he sings, dances and hosts the #1 male revue in Las Vegas.

I’m sure a LOT of the crunchy gossip blogs out there will spin this as “Joey is a stripper” but I hear he will not be “stripping” as his duties will fall more in the category of singing and hosting the show. Although, with a body like Joey’s I’m hoping he may at least take off his shirt at some point.

Joey’s appearance coincides with the roll out of the highly anticipated “Magic Mike” movie by Steven Soderbergh starring Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Alex Pettyfer and Matthew McConaughey opening June 29th. The movie is loosely based on Channing Tatum’s own experience as a dancer in an all-male revue. Considering the all-star hunky cast of the film, expect the movie to make even more women head to Las Vegas and the Chippendales at the Rio All-Suites Hotel.

Joey became a teen sensation and star in the 90ʼs hit television series “Blossom,” where his character Joey Russo emerged as a breakout character. Today, Lawrence stars on the #1 ABC Family series “Melissa & Joey,” with Melissa Joan Hart, which is about to begin its second season.

In 2007, Lawrence made his Broadway debut in Chicago.  More recently, he was a finalist on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and toured with the stage version of the show throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Joey’s has also had success in the music world: his international hit single “Nothing My Love Can’t Fix” hit #10 on Billboard Top 40 Mainstream charts.
