Broadway Bares begins new year with “Winter Burlesque – Calendar Girl”

The 24th season of Broadway Bares began Sunday raising $32,781 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Take two-time Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber, two-time OutMusic Award winner Matt Zarley and 25 talented, sexy New York dancers and you get “Calendar Girl” – this year’s edition of Winter Burlesque by Broadway Bares.

Broadway Bares: Winter Burlesque 2014

Broadway Bares: Winter Burlesque kicks off the 24th season of Broadway Bares with two performances on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at XL Nightclub (512 West 42nd Street, NYC).

The evening is produced by and benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

This year’s Winter Burlesque show, dubbed Calendar Girl, will be based on last summer’s Fire Island Pines sensation and inspired by 1999’s Broadway Bares IX: Calendar Girl. More than two dozen of New York theatre’s sexiest dancers will take the stage in a stimulating strip-a-month journey through the calendar. There will be two performances of Calendar Girl: 8 pm and 10 pm.

Whether it’s your taste or not, you have to admit Adam Lambert is vocally pretty spectacular here.

Adam Lambert sang the National Anthem on Sunday night at Broadway Bares 23, the annual strip-a-thon fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Breaking records yet again, BroadwayWorld reports, Broadway Bares made $1,430,241 in a single night:

With this year’s record total, the 23 editions of BROADWAY BARES have now raised more than $11.3 million for Broadway Cares.

Last year’s 22nd edition of BROADWAY BARES raised $1,254,176.

BROADWAY BARES started in 1992 and featured seven dancers stripping on a bar, raising about $8,000.

Tonight in NYC – “Broadway Bares 23: United Stripes of America”

Broadway’s sexiest night of the year has arrived: The 23rd annual edition of Broadway Bares, entitled Broadway Bares 23: United Strips of America, is presented at Roseland Ballroom June 23 at 9:30 PM and midnight to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

, according to press notes, “celebrates America’s fruited plains and mountains majesties. A bi-coastal couple will set out on separate, sexy journeys through a dozen states – encountering scantily clad inhabitants along the way – in hopes of reuniting in the heartland.” Max von Essen (Evita) and Michael Cusumano (Chicago) appear throughout the show as the couple. Guest stars also include two-time Tony nominee Christopher Sieber (La Cage aux Folles), 2013 Tony nominee Charl Brown (Motown The Musical), Lesli Margherita (Matilda The Musical), Kate Rockwell (Rock of Ages) and Eric LaJuan Summers (Motown The Musical).

Roseland Ballroom is located at 239 West 52nd Street. Although the 9:30 PM show is sold out, tickets for the midnight show can be purchased online at broadwaycares.org or by calling (212) 840-0770, ext 268. A limited number of tickets also may be available between 3 PM and 7 PM June 23 in the lobby of Roseland Ballroom.

Through 22 editions, Broadway Bares has raised more than $9.8 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
