After months of eight-figure negotiations, the pop star has finally signed her contract to join Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid as a judge on The X Factor.
From Queerty: “The contract is signed. There’s been a lot of back and forth over the past few weeks as they negotiated the small details, but she’s on. It’s all completed and Britney is beyond excited. She’s ready for this… She can’t wait to sit down next to Simon at the judges’ table and give this everything she’s got. J-Lo revitalized her career with a judge spot on American Idol. So now, it looks like Britney is about to give her career a boost with a gig on The X Factor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Britney Spears’s fiancé Jason Trawick has been brokering the deal, although sources say X Factor head honcho Simon Cowell actually approached her first.
THR thinks this could be a good move: “Spears brings legitimacy as a successful recording artist, something critics of X Factor say was missing in last year’s competition, as well as a level of unpredictability and drama that also was largely absent from the Fox show when Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were judges.”
