Video: 38th Annual Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras In Sydney, Australia

With 178 floats, over 12,500 participants and a massive party that stretched through the entire night, the 38th Annual Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras was the biggest and gayest party in the world yesterday.

Notable attendees included Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. While Mr. Turnbull has attended the event before, this year he becomes the first sitting Australian Prime Minister to attend the event. Also of note – Mr. Turnbull continues to block a vote on marriage equality.

The video below is covers almost four hours of gay Australia’s “night of nights.”

Video: Life With Michael (On The Other Side Of The Planet)

Regular readers of The Randy Report know that both hubby Michael and I travel a LOT for different business endeavors. Trust and believe, it’s sounds more glamorous than it is 🙂

So, for instance, Michael is gone for three weeks right now as he’s in Australia with Olivia Newton-John doing press for fund raising activities for her Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Center.

(p.s. Michael is the top fund-raiser for this year’s “Wellness Walk” – rock star!)

The time change is really a pain – he gets up there about 2pm my time in Las Vegas. It’s hard to say “good morning” or “good night” or whatever. To be honest, we have to ignore the time and just catch up.

So, I turned on my phone camera to give you a sense of what it is we do to keep up every day.

Australia: Labor Leader Bill Shorten Files Legislation To Legalize Same-Sex Marriage

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Labor leader Bill Shorten has filed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in Australia:

“Let this law reflect the nation we all want to see in the mirror,” the Labor leader said. “Generous, smart, modern, diverse and above all, equal.”

Mr Shorten’s wife, Chloe, watched from the public galleries as he delivered a short speech, introducing a bill that would change the definition of marriage to “the union of two people”.

Labor senators Penny Wong and Katy Gallagher and ACT chief minister Andrew Barr were also in the chamber.

But despite the strong Labor showing, the Coalition side of the House of Representatives was almost empty, with less than a handful of government MPs in attendance.
