Henry Rollins On Donald Trump: “A Bored Rich Guy Just Being Crass”

“I’m not a Trump fan at all, but he will say what’s on his mind. Like, ‘No more Muslims!’” Rollins snorted, amused. “You just said that. And of course in this country, a lot of people agree. Trump, one day he held up his cellphone and said, ‘Here’s Lindsey Graham’s number!’ I could not not laugh. That was FUNNY. He would be a disastrous president, but at the same time I don’t think he wants to be president. I think he’s a bored rich guy just being crass.”

Pulitzer Prize Winning Website Politifact Names Donald Trump “Lie Of The Year’

Pulitzer Prize winning fact check web site Politifact honors GOP White House hopeful Donald Trump as the collective “Lie Of The Year.”

PolitiFact has been documenting Trump’s statements on our Truth-O-Meter, where we’ve rated 76 percent of them Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire, out of 77 statements checked. No other politician has as many statements rated so far down on the dial.

In considering our annual Lie of the Year, we found our only real contenders were Trump’s — his various statements also led our Readers’ Poll. But it was hard to single one out from the others. So we have rolled them into one big trophy.

To the candidate who says he’s all about winning, PolitiFact designates the many campaign misstatements of Donald Trump as our 2015 Lie of the Year.

When it comes to inaccurate statements, the Donald was on fire:

• “I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down,” he said at a Nov. 21 rally in Birmingham, Ala. “And I watched in Jersey City, N.J., where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering.” Pants on Fire. There is no video of thousands of people in Jersey City cheering. Weeks later, Trump continues to stand by his claim but has not been able to point to evidence to back it up. Public safety officials on the ground in New Jersey say it never happened.

• “The Mexican government … they send the bad ones over.” Pants on Fire. There’s no evidence to show the Mexican government encourages criminals to cross the border. Most illegal immigration comes from people seeking work. Recent estimates show illegal immigration from Mexico dropped off dramatically during the recession and has remained low.

• “Whites killed by whites — 16%. Whites killed by blacks — 81%,” said an image he shared on Twitter. Pants on Fire. Most people are killed by someone they know, and someone of the same race. The correct number for whites killed by whites was 82 percent in 2014, while the number of whites killed by blacks was 15 percent.

Seriously, I just can’t. What a classless douche.

Donald Trump On Russian President Putin Killing Journalists: “He’s Running His Country And At Least He’s A Leader”

Speaking to MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning, Donald Trump seemed quite happy to have earned the endorsement of Russian President Putin this week.

Personally, I think Putin’s support was more about who Putin thinks he can mop up the floor with, but that’s me…

When host Joe Scarborough brought up Vladimir Putin’s reputation for killing journalists who disagreed with him, Trump’s answer brought a pause.

Via Business Insider:

“Sure, when people call you ‘brilliant’ it’s always good. Especially when the person heads up Russia,” Trump told cohost Mika Brzezinski when asked about Putin praising him as “very talented” the day before.

Scarborough pointed to Putin’s status as a notorious strongman. “Well, I mean, it’s also a person who kills journalists, political opponents, and invades countries. Obviously that would be a concern, would it not?” Scarborough asked.

“He’s running his country, and at least he’s a leader,” Trump replied. “Unlike what we have in this country.” “But again: He kills journalists that don’t agree with him,” Scarborough said.

The Republican presidential front-runner said there was “a lot of killing going on” around the world and then suggested that Scarborough had asked him a different question.

I read about this exchange earlier today, but it is something else to actually watch and hear. It’s rather chilling that Trump’s response to Putin’s killing is “well, he’s running his country.”

Joe Scarborough even circled back to give Trump an out, and Trump wasn’t having it.

Seriously. Watch below. Note the silence after his remarks.

New Poll Shows Hillary Clinton With 33 Point Lead For Democratic Nomination

A new poll of registered Democrats released today shows former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with a commanding 33 point lead over rival Sen. Bernie Sanders.

A Monmouth University survey released Wednesday found Clinton with a 33-point lead, taking 59 percent support nationally over Sanders at 26 percent. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley takes 4 percent support in the poll.

Those results are essentially unchanged from the same poll in October, which found Clinton leading 57–24 in the race for the Democratic nomination.

“Clinton successfully ran the gauntlet this fall, appearing before the Benghazi Committee and outlasting the specter of a Biden candidacy,” said Monmouth pollster Patrick Murray. “She really hasn’t lost ground since then.”

On a state by state basis, Clinton leads Sanders by double digits in Iowa, the first in the nation contest to be held February 1st.

Sanders, however, looks to have a 5 point lead in New Hampshire.

Clinton has maintained a steady double-digit lead in Iowa, raising the stakes for Sanders in New Hampshire. The Vermont senator holds a 5-point lead in the Granite State, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls.

Donald Trump: “If I Don’t Win It Will Have Been A Complete Waste Of Time”

“Look, okay, if I win, I’ll be extremely happy. And I’ll do a great job.

“If I don’t win, for me, it will have been a total waste of time.

“Despite the man calling me saying it doesn’t mater if you win or lose because what you’ve done has never been done before. I said I disagree with you. If I don’t win, I will consider — even if other people don’t, I know they give me a lot of credit for what’s taken place. And or probably has never happened before. But I will consider it not a success.”
