Poll: Trump Tops GOP Hopefuls But Fares Worst Against Hillary Clinton

There’s good and bad news for Donald Trump in the latest USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll.

While Trump has surged 6 points since the June poll, putting him on top of the current field of GOP presidential hopefuls, the survey also shows that he is the weakest competitor in regard to Democrat Hillary Clinton.

In a hypothetical matchup, Trump loses to Clinton by 17 points (51%-34%), while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush trails by only four points nationwide, 46%-42%.

The other five top GOP contenders also do better than Trump with Sen. Marco Rubio trailing Clinton by 6 points; former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee by 8 points; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker by 9 points; Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul by 10 points; and neurosurgeon Ben Carson by 13 points.

Poll results also show Trump has a huge deficit in term of unfavorable/favorable impression – 61% of those surveyed have an unfavorable impression of him, 23% hold a favorable one. That means a net-negative rating of 38 points. Jeb Bush’s favorable-unfavorable rating is 35%-42%.

USA TODAY’s Susan Page also notes that while many of the other Republicans in the race are still introducing themselves to the American people, Trump’s name recognition is already high. This indicates that he may not have much more room to rise in the polls.

Donald Trump Tweets Campaign Ad Featuring Nazi Soldiers On American Flag

Earlier today, Donald Trump tweeted out the above image, then quickly deleted it when it became apparent the image of soldiers featured in the corner are Nazi soldiers.

The lead soldier with the camo uniform in the now-deleted tweet is very obviously wearing a Waffen-SS uniform. For those who skipped history class, the SS were basically the worst kind of Nazis there were.

CNN’s MJ Lee reports that the Trump campaign claims “an intern accidentally posted questionable photo” and apologized. Meanwhile Mother Jones managed to track down the original image used in Trump’s tweet, and confirmed that the soldiers are Nazis.

Now, if Trump can’t oversee a campaign team, HOW is he going to lead the United States?

Scott Walker Openly Constitutional Ban On Marriage Equality

Now here’s a winning formula to become the next president of the United States: oppose an idea that currently enjoys the support of 60% of Americans.

GOP presidential hopeful Scott Walker said this today about marriage equality – considered settled law by the U.S. Supreme Court:

“Our conservative values were handed a big blow with the recent Supreme Court ruling. Let me be very clear: this decision was a grave mistake. Five unelected judges took it upon themselves to take that responsibility away from the states and redefine the institution of marriage.

“In 2006, I voted to amend my state constitution to protect the institution of marriage because I believe that marriage is between one man and one woman. I believe that the states have the right to define marriage.

“To protect this right, I support an amendment to the United States Constitution to reaffirm the ability of the states to continue to define marriage.”

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker Jumps Into 2016 GOP Race

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker officially announced his presidential campaign today, joining an already crowded field of GOP hopefuls.

In advance of today’s announcement, CNN’s Dana Bash traveled to Madison to speak with Walker’s sons – 21 year old Matt and 19 year old Alex.

It turns out that Matt and Alex, like the vast majority of younger Americans, are both supporters of marriage equality. Gov. Walker, however, is decidedly not. He called the Supreme Court’s ruling last month a “grave mistake” and has tested the waters with an idea of a constitutional amendment to allow states to continue banning same-sex marriage.

Bash asked the two sons about their father’s negative reaction to the historic SCOTUS ruling, and how they feel about his position on same-sex marriage.

“We talked to him, like any family we have disagreements,” said Matt . “He just explained his position and that was it.”

“Matt and I aren’t necessarily changing his stances on any issues,” added Alex. “We respect his opinion on things.”

Walker is considered a GOP front-runner along with Jeb Bush, both of whom are expected to be competitive in a general election.

We shall see about that.

Jeb Bush Should Ask His Brother About Working “Longer Hours”

Recently, GOP presidential hopeful Jeb Bush suggested the country could improve economically if Americans would work longer hours.

An ironic statement considering his brother took more vacation days than any other president in recent history.

As a matter of fact, it looks like Republicans like their vacay days a lot more than Democrats.
