One of the things that has occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, whether we like it or not, is seeing life slow down in one form or another.
Maybe we don’t go to work as often, or maybe working from home we catch some of those moments that ‘happen’ when in the past we haven’t been paying attention.
I saw Grammy Award-winner Mary Chapin Carpenter, who has been doing a series of live performances on her Instagram account, shared her gem of a song, “Late For Your Life,” today.
I can’t do the song or Mary Chapin justice by talking about it, so, here’s the original recording as well as her charming ‘Songs From Home’ InstaTV version complete with her dog, Angus, playing with his squeak toy in the background.
Says Mary Chapin, “‘Late For Your Life’ has a simple message that reminds us not to put off those things that would make our lives better, happier, more fulfilled…whatever those aspirations might be. Even in a pandemic, every day is all there is, and it all goes by so fast.”
No one knows where they belong / The search just goes on and on and on
For every day that ends up wrong / Another one’s right
Call it chance or call it fate / Either one is cause to celebrate
Still the question begs why would you wait / And be late for your life
Hit play below and please – listen to the lyrics that are perfectly paired with a gorgeous, languid, melancholy guitar.
Mary Chapin recently launched a new podcast you can find here, and her new album, The Dirt and the Stars, is set for release this coming Friday, August 7.
