Indie singer/songwriter (and Randy Report favorite) David Hernandez drops his deeply personal new single and music video “feel it all,” a no-holds-barred anthem to redemption and recovery.
Hernandez’s trademark soulful vocals are paired with driving percussive beats resulting in an urgent, layered performance that serves as a musical meditation on the journey of sobriety.
I thought I was the life of the party
Always going home with somebody
Now I don’t really know nobody
And no ones picking up when I’m calling
But ya gotta feel it, feel it, feel it, all
I know you don’t wanna feel it, feel it, feel it, no
You wanna keep on runnin, runnin, runnin from it all
But ya gotta feel it, feel it, feel it, feel it – all
Make sure you watch to the end for a taste of his beautiful acoustic take on the song.
Hernandez says he originally wrote the song “for my own therapy” with no plans to release the track. Having lived through experiences where people have taken his own life story and used it against him, he had reservations about putting himself in such a vulnerable position.
During his time on American Idol Season 7, some media outed Hernandez as gay and having been a stripper. “I’ve moved past it and dealt with those traumas, but it’s something you never forget,” he shares.

Ultimately, Hernandez felt the message of the song “is bigger than me,” adding, “I decided to share it because it may help others who have been through or are going through a similar experience.”

Released during National Recovery Month, the American Idol alum recently told OUT Magazine, “The song was written from a pretty vulnerable place in my sobriety journey.”
“The thing that nobody really talks about after you get sober is that you literally have to feel all of your feelings, no matter what,” he adds. “It’s not just about not picking up a drink or a drug. It’s about sitting in the most uncomfortable moments and healthily processing them.”
“feel it all” is available now on all major digital music platforms. Check out the full “(stripped)” acoustic version of the song on Spotify here.
