CBS News correspondent David Begnaud reports from a Mississippi hospital where the number of COVID-19 patients has soared from 2 the first week of May to 59 today. In interviews, several of the patients share their regret over skipping the vaccines.
William Ball, 52, is so weak he can’t sit up in his hospital bed. Begnaud tells his wife, Alicia, some people who watch the report “don’t think the virus is serious.”
“We didn’t either at first,” she replies.

In tears, the wife of a hospitalized 52-year-old Mississippi COVID patient says the virus has ravaged his body to the point that he can't sit up in bed. @DavidBegnaud: There will be people who watch this who don't think the virus is serious.
