CW’s “The Flash” Will Make Cross-Over Appearance On CBS’s “Supergirl”

I don’t know if it’s the idea that we can find more inside us than we suspect, or just the fantasy of all the special abilities we see across the many comic book universes, but comic book super heroes have held my attention as long as I can remember.

I watched every season of Smallville, and I’m completely up-to-date on Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl.

When these characters are brought to life on TV well, when they bring a humanity to characters who were in the past only two dimensional, it still gets my engine revved up.

News comes to day that The CW’s The Flash character will be making an appearance on the March 28th episode of CBS’s new show Supergirl. I think it helps that, while on competing networks, the shows share the same executive producers.

From Entertainment Weekly:

Details on the episode are being kept under wraps. There’s also no word yet on whether Melissa Benoist will return the favor and appear on The Flash. However, here’s why this crossover is important: If Barry Allen can make his way to National City, that means so too can Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in the future.

Though the Emerald Archer is missing from this initial outing, having The Flash first crossover with Supergirl seems a little more plausible considering they’re both metahuman and superhero-heavy shows. But since Barry Allen lives in a neighboring town to Oliver Queen, that means that Kara Danvers (Benoist) hails from the same universe. Therefore, the possibility for a future crossover with Arrow isn’t improbable — it’s just not happening right now.

“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl —The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!” said The Flash and Supergirl executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg.

Harlem Hate Pastor David James Manning Rages Over Plan To Buy Church For Homeless LGBT Youth

David James Manning

This past weekend I wrote about The Ali Forney Center, which serves homeless LGBT youth in NYC,  is working to raise funds to buy virulently anti-gay Pastor David James Manning’s ATLAH World Missionary Church, after it was announced that the property is up for auction due to past due taxes and utility bills.

With a goal of $200,000 the fundraising page shows over $151,000 donated at this time.

Manning has posted another of his hate-filled rants on YouTube saying the building will never be used to help LGBT youth because “this ain’t no bathhouse!”

From the video:

“This is the lord’s house! This ain’t no damn bathhouse! It ain’t no fag house! And before you can ever own this property – hook or crook – own this property. Men who are fags with testicles will be carrying babies in their testicles and giving birth to them through their anus. That’s how impossible it is for you to get this house. When you start carrying a baby in your bags and birthing that baby through your ass, then you can own this house! But until I see you pull a baby out your ass, you ain’t gonna pull this church out from underneath us. And boom shaka-laka goes right there! And all you fags can go to hell! I’m James David Manning, everybody. I’m the lord’s servant!”

“I imagine we are going to hear a lot of ranting and raving from Rev Manning until the auction,” says Ali Forney Center director Carl Siciliano. “And he has good cause to be ranting. The Ali Forney Center has been overwhelmed with support since we announced our bid to site a housing program for LGBT youth.”

Rick “Frothy Mix” Santorum Dropping His Presidential Bid

Virulently anti-gay, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick “Frothy Mix” Santorum will be announcing today that he is quitting suspending his presidential campaign after coming in 11th in the Republican Iowa Caucus Monday night.

From CNN:

Santorum won the 2012 Iowa caucuses and ended that race with the second-most number of delegates to eventually GOP nominee Mitt Romney. But he was unable to capture any momentum this year, despite extensive barnstorming efforts in Iowa.

He is the third Republican presidential candidate to drop out after Monday’s caucuses. Mike Huckabee ended his campaign that night, and Rand Paul suspended his campaign Wednesday morning.

Just Because…

Because what’s cuter than a baby goat?

Happy Hump Day!

Jeb Bush Reduced To Asking For Applause On Campaign Trail

So it’s come to this.

After a sixth place finish in Iowa (only 2.8 percent of the vote), former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is reduced to begging for applause at his campaign stops.

From the New York Times:

Mr. Bush finished a fiery riff about protecting the country as commander in chief — “I won’t be out here blowharding, talking a big game without backing it up,” he said — and was met with total silence.

“Please clap,” he said, sounding defeated.

The crowd laughed — and then, finally, clapped.

Wow.

As most folks know, Bush was once considered the easy front-runner in the early days of the Republican nominating process.

Donald Trump Goes All Sore Loser After Iowa Loss

I think we were all struck by how gracious Donald Trump was Monday night after coming in second in the Iowa Caucuses. I was wondering “who is this guy?”

Good to know Trumpster has reverted back to the guy we all know as he whines on Twitter today that Ted Cruz “stole” votes.

Trump is now calling for a “do over” in Iowa. I’ll let you know how that turns out.

UPDATE: Sen. Ted Cruz fires back…

Just a friendly reminder that I recently launched a companion online radio show for The Randy Report where I cover many of the same issues (pop culture, politics and entertainment) as I do here daily on the blog.

The shows are archived immediately after I end an episode, so you don’t have to listen live  – although it’s fun to interact with callers during the show 🙂

Plus, you can download episodes for free via iTunes’ Podcast section.

Below is a handy-dandy player that allows you to check out some of my recent shows.
