Hillary Clinton Takes Slim Lead In North Carolina

More evidence Donald Trump’s post-Republican convention rants and tirades continue to dog his presidential campaign.

Democrat Hillary Clinton now has a slim 2 point lead over the Trumpster according to the latest Public Policy Polling survey in North Carolina.

She’s at 43% to 41% for Donald Trump, 7% for Gary Johnson, and 2% for Jill Stein. In a head to head contest just between Clinton and Trump, she leads 47/46. Voters haven’t changed their feelings much about Clinton since our June poll in the state- her favorability rating was 39/55 then and it’s 40/55 now.

But Trump – already unpopular – has become even more so. He’s seen a 7 point decline in his net popularity from -14 at 38/52 down to -21 at 37/58. “Hillary Clinton’s taken a small lead in North Carolina,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “That has more to do with Donald Trump than it does with her- every time he opens his mouth he just keeps getting even more and more unpopular than he already was.”

Also from the poll, 69% of Trump supporters say should Clinton win, it will be due to the race being rigged.

Tongan Olympian Gets Oiled Up By Hoda & Jenna Bush

Pita Taufatofua, the now famous Olympic athlete from Tonga who broke the internet when he marched into the opening ceremonies for the 2016 Summer Olympics wearing not much more than body oil and a gorgeous smile, recently met up with Today Show hosts Hoda and Jenna Bush.

The Tongan was too much to resist as Hoda broke out the body oil and went to work.

Seriously, that smile.

Pita also gave a short lesson on Taekwondo to the Today Show team.

Donald Trump’s “Economic Plan” Does Nothing For Middle Class America

Donald Trump made a big deal about unveiling his “economic plan” for America, hoping for a kind of campaign reset as he plummets in the polls.

The problem is, though, none of what he is proposing is visionary or innovative.

We learned “trickle down” economics don’t work. Giving big tax cuts to the wealthy with the hopes that the rich will “reinvest” those gains into new employees or higher wages is a fallacy. Doesn’t happen.

And eliminating the estate tax does nothing to encourage the economy to grow. It’s just a big giveaway to folks like Trump’s kids.

Once again Trump is attempting to do a little flim-flam action saying “look what I’ll do,” when in reality none of this will actually “do” anything.

Hunky U.S. Men’s Gymnastics Team Offer To Compete Shirtless For Higher Ratings

According to People Magazine, the U.S. Men’s Gymnastic team feels they don’t get as much attention as the women’s gymnasts.

The good news here is clearly they are unaware of my covert spying techniques 🙂

“Maybe compete with our shirts off,” gymnast Sam Mikulak suggests as a solution in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. “People make fun of us for wearing tights. But if they saw how yoked we are maybe that would make a difference.”

Don’t worry, Sam. I’m watching. And while I have no prob with the tights, you can go right ahead and lose ’em. I’m down with that 🙂

Trending: #ManyPeopleAreSaying

One of Donald Trump’s favorite phrases to use when attacking his opponents is the very vague “many people are saying.”

Now, we never ever find out who those many people actually are, probably because it’s just Donald Trump talking to himself (which he has admitted he does quite frequently).

Twitter, of course, went wild for the idea and began trending the hashtag #manypeoplearesaying

GOP Sen. Susan Collins: “I Will Not Be Voting For Donald Trump”

Wow – this is a surprise.

Senator Susan Collins of Maine has penned an op-ed for the Washington Post wherein she announces she is the seventh Republican Senator to not vote for GOP White House nominee Donald Trump.

Collins opens thusly:

“I will not be voting for Donald Trump for president. This is not a decision I make lightly, for I am a lifelong Republican. But Donald Trump does not reflect historical Republican values nor the inclusive approach to governing that is critical to healing the divisions in our country. When the primary season started, it soon became apparent that, much like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Mr. Trump was connecting with many Americans who felt that their voices were not being heard in Washington and who were tired of political correctness.

“But rejecting the conventions of political correctness is different from showing complete disregard for common decency. Mr. Trump did not stop with shedding the stilted campaign dialogue that often frustrates voters. Instead, he opted for a constant stream of denigrating comments, including demeaning Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) heroic military service and repeatedly insulting Fox News host Megyn Kelly.

“With the passage of time, I have become increasingly dismayed by his constant stream of cruel comments and his inability to admit error or apologize. But it was his attacks directed at people who could not respond on an equal footing — either because they do not share his power or stature or because professional responsibility precluded them from engaging at such a level — that revealed Mr. Trump as unworthy of being our president.”

Bolding is mine.

It’s worth noting that Collins is not a showboating “Ted Cruz” type of U.S. Senator. She is not some kind of “big-shot” power player in Washington.

She is a moderate who is well-liked by just about everyone. She has a 78% approval rating and not up for reelection until 2020. So, she didn’t need to raise her voice.

But she did.

For Collins to weigh in like this says a lot.
