City Of Orlando Will Buy Pulse Nightclub, Turn It Into Memorial

Via LGBTQnation:

The city of Orlando, Florida, has announced plans to purchase the Pulse nightclub and eventually convert the site of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history into a memorial.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer told the Orlando Sentinel on Monday that the city has reached a deal to buy the gay nightclub for $2.25 million.

Dyer says the site should probably remain as-is for the next 12 to 18 months, as it has become a gathering place for mourners.

He says the city will reach out to the community for advice on how plans for the memorial should proceed.

The purchase price is $600,000 more than its appraised value.

The June 12 attack left 49 people dead and 53 wounded. Gunman Omar Mateen was killed by SWAT team members.

Nevada: Trump Early Voting Lawsuit Already Dead – Judge Denies Motion

Judge Sturman in Nevada has just ruled against the Trump campaign’s lawsuit about alleged violations in early voting discrepancies.

From CNN:

Judge Gloria Sturman, of the District Court for Clark County Nevada, ruled from the bench, saying County Registrar of Voters Joe P. Gloria was already obligated by state law to maintain the records that the Trump campaign is seeking.

The judge at times expressed frustration with Brian Hardy, a lawyer for the Trump campaign.

“I am not ordering him (Gloria) to preserve anything,” she said, adding, “This is Election Day. He has other things to be doing.”

The registrar’s office said in a statement that the Trump campaign’s request to preserve the records “is required by state law, and so it is something we are already doing.”

Veteran Nevada political reporter Jon Ralston dropped these bon mots after the hearing ended just minutes ago:

Nevada: Trump Campaign Sues Clark County Registrar Over Early Voting

It looks like the Trumpster is already playing the role of sore loser.

The Donald Trump campaign has filed a lawsuit in Nevada against the Clark County Registrar claiming polls at a Clark County voting location were kept open “2 hours beyond closing time” on the final day of early voting.

The fact is, people were in line before closing, and Nevada state law allows registered voters to cast their ballot if they are in line before closing time.

From CNN:

Dan Kulin, a spokesperson for the county, told CNN that no early voting stations extended their closing times. They did, however, process voters who were in line at closing time to allow as many people to vote as possible. Trump lawyers are asking for an order to have the pertinent early vote ballots not to be “co-mingled or interspersed” with other ballots.

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway recently told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the Trump campiagn had no evidence that there was any wrongdoing at the polling location.

Clinton Campaign Takes On The Mannequin Challenge – With A Message

The Hillary Clinton campaign is latest team to take on the Mannequin Challenge, the newest viral meme where — you guessed it — friends pretend to be a room full of mannequins.

But this meme has a message – “Don’t stand still. Vote today!”

Hillary Wins Guam!

USA Today reports that the tiny U.S. island of Guam has voted (15 hours ahead Eastern Standard Time), and Hillary Clinton has won by a huge margin of 71.63% versus Donald Trump’s 24.16%.

Residents of the island have correctly picked the winner of every White House race since 1984.

While Guam residents are American citizens, they have no actual bearing on the national election since the island has no representation in the Electoral College.

Earlier today, just after midnight, Hillary also won the famously “first in the nation” vote in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire. The vote in the tiny hamlet was four votes for Hillary, two votes for Trump, one vote for Libertarian Gary Johnson, and one write in vote for Mitt Romney.
