Susan “Cindy Brady” Olsen Thinks It’s Hilarious She’s Being Called Anti-LGBTQ

Susan Olsen

Susan Olsen, who was famous 40 years ago for playing “Cindy Brady” on the 70s sitcom, The Brady Bunch, says she recently got fired from her radio show gig because she supports Donald Trump.

And, she thinks it’s “hilarious” she’s been labeled as a homophobe after her anti-gay rant that actually got her canned from the radio show.

Via Susan Olsen’s Facebook page:

Somehow the actual apology that I made days ago did not get posted. I am very sorry for ever hurting the LGBT community that I love so much. For that, I am sorry and frankly find it hilarious that I am being called a homophobe. What could be more rediculous??? I think that the real LGBT community knows that I have and always will support them. I love you!

Charlotte City Council Repeals LGBT Protections

The Charlotte city council in North Carolina has voted to repeal it’s LGBT protections ordinance.

The move is part of a bargain  made by GOP state lawmakers who vowed to repeal the anti-LGBT legislation HB2, if Charlotte would repeal their ordinance first.
We’ll see if the GOP controlled legislature fulfills its promise.
The council’s repeal measure requires the legislature to repeal HB2 by December 31 or its ordinance would stand.

Stay tuned.

If You Repeat A Lie Often Enough

Here’s proof that if you repeat a lie often enough, some folks will believe it.

From The Washington Post:

Clinton’s lead now exceeds 2.8 million votes (more than 2.1 percent of the total vote) and continues to grow. Many Democrats hope this fact alone might persuade Republican electors to reject Trump in favor of some alternative. But this hope faces a serious challenge: Half of all Republicans actually think Trump won the popular vote.

In a nationally representative online survey of 1,011 Americans conducted by Qualtrics between Dec. 6 and 12, we asked respondents, “In last month’s election, Donald Trump won the majority of votes in the electoral college. Who do you think won the most popular votes?”

Twenty-nine percent said Donald Trump won the popular vote. This is a slightly larger proportion than in a recent Pew survey in which 19 percent said Trump won the popular vote.

Respondents’ correct understanding of the popular vote depended a great deal on partisanship. A large fraction of Republicans — 52 percent — said Trump won the popular vote, compared with only 7 percent of Democrats and 24 percent of independents.

Zsa Zsa Gabor Passes Away At 99

(publicity photo from 1959 via Wikipedia)

The year 2016 claims yet another celebrity as Zsa Zsa Gabor, the Paris Hilton of her time, passed away today at the age of 99.

From the New York Times:

Zsa Zsa Gabor, the Hungarian actress whose self-parodying glamour and revolving-door marriages to millionaires put a luster of American celebrity on a long but only modestly successful career in movies and television, died on Sunday in Los Angeles. She was probably 99.

The cause was heart failure, her longtime publicist Edward Lozzi said.

Married at least eight times, calling everyone “Dahlink,” flaunting a diamonds-and-furs lifestyle and abetted by gossip columnists and tabloid headline writers, Ms. Gabor played the coiffed platinum femme fatale in plunging necklines in dozens of film and television roles, many of them cameos as herself. Her career, which began with the title Miss Hungary in 1936, was still going strong in the 1990s, outlasting those of her sisters, Eva and Magda, celebrities in their own right. She was the last surviving Gabor sister.

“A girl must marry for love, and keep on marrying until she finds it,” Ms. Gabor once said. Her husbands included a Turkish diplomat, the hotel heir Conrad Hilton, the actor George Sanders, an industrialist, an oil magnate, a toy designer, a divorce lawyer and a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony. Another marriage that nobody counted — a case of bigamy at sea with a has-been Mexican actor — lasted only a day and was annulled.

In 1989, she was arrested for slapping a police officer who had pulled her over for a traffic violation and found that her license had expired and that she had an open vodka bottle in her car, a Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible. Breezing into court, she took the stand and, by turns haughty, coquettish, weepy and coarse, spoke of Gestapo tactics in Beverly Hills. The judge gave her 72 hours in jail.

“You just cannot drive a Rolls-Royce in Beverly Hills anymore, because they have it in for you,” she said after things had blown over.

Ms. Gabor appeared in more than 60 television movies and feature films, mostly American-made, although some were Italian, French, German and Australian. Critics said her best roles were early in her career, in “Moulin Rouge” (1952) and “Lili” (1953). She also appeared as a nightclub manager in Orson Welles’s 1958 classic “Touch of Evil” and, the same year, as a sexy alien in “Queen of Outer Space,” a camp favorite about virile American astronauts landing on a planet populated by scantily clad women.

From the 1950s into the ’90s, she was also on scores of television programs: talk shows, game shows, comedy specials, westerns, episodic dramas. On the 1960s series “Batman,” she played the gold-digging Minerva, whose mineral spa fleeced swells by extracting secrets from their brains. “A real vicked voman,” she described the character in her Hungarian accent.

My favorite Zsa Zsa quote:

“The only way to learn a language properly, in fact, is to marry a man of that nationality. You get what they call in Europe a ‘sleeping dictionary.’ Of course, I have only been married five times, and I speak seven languages. I’m still trying to remember where I picked up the other two.”

Indie Presidential Candidate Evan McMullin Returns Fire At Donald Trump

After Donald Trump took aim at independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin, by referring to him as “McMuffin,” McMullin decided he would jump into the Twitterverse with the Donald.

“Our charming President-elect @realDonaldTrump has a new nickname for me: ‘McMuffin.’ I like it. Am I now on the hook to reciprocate?”

“I hear Egg McMuffins taste a lot better than the steaks at the Trump Grill. True Story?”

From The Hill:

McMullin has been an outspoken critic of Trump since the election, while the president-elect has frequently called him “some guy” who was trying to beat him in Utah.
On Friday night, however, Trump called him “McMuffin” after an audience member shouted it at the rally.

“That’s correct, that’s his name, he said Evan McMuffin, do you believe this?” Trump said. “I never heard of this guy before. Nobody did. And the polls said he’s even with Donald Trump. My wife said, she looked at the television and she said he’s not even with you. Believe me, he’s not even.”

SNL: “Hillary Clinton” Appeals To Electoral College In “Love Actually” Parody

Last night’s SNL featured a parody of the iconic scene from holiday film classic Love Actually in which Andrew Lincoln silently admits his love for Keira Knightley via a set of written poster cards.

In SNL’s version, Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon) appears on the doorstep of a member of the Electoral College (Cecily Strong) with her own set of poster cards. Some very funny poster cards.

This was “actually” laugh out loud funny to me. You’ve got to watch.

Equally funny was the cold open, featuring Alec Baldwin’s “Donald Trump” and Kate McKinnon as “Kellyanne Conway,” which hit on some of the Trumpster’s sore spots.

From the New York Times:

In its final episode of 2016, “S.N.L.,” the sketch series and enduring thorn in Mr. Trump’s side, began with a cold open on Saturday that went hard at some sensitive spots for the president-elect: his relationship to President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, his courtship of Melania Trump, and some of his recent gaffes and cabinet nominations. The show all but dared Mr. Trump to respond on his Twitter account, but he did not immediately do so.

A bare-chested Mr. Putin (played by the “S.N.L.” cast member Beck Bennett) soon came down the chimney with a Santa sack. He profusely flattered Mr. Trump as “the best candidate” and “the smartest candidate” — and “the Manchurian candidate,” implying Mr. Trump was an unwitting Russian puppet. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds tremendous,” Mr. Trump said.

MSNBC Pulls Plug On “Live With Thomas Roberts”

Sad to hear that out news anchor Thomas Roberts shared via Facebook that his afternoon show “Live with Thomas Roberts” on MSNBC has been cancelled.

Friends,

I wanted you to hear directly from me…it is true I won’t be keeping my current show weekdays on MSNBC. My last show was Thursday.

My colleagues are incredible people…and I am so proud of our team and our accomplishments. It is always a special blessing when co-workers become close friends and family. We achieved that bond and our hard work was recently honored by winning an Emmy in 2016 for Breaking News coverage of last year’s Supreme Court decision on Marriage Equality. I can’t thank my colleagues enough for years of their dedication to me and our show.

Also, a BIG thanks to the viewers who’ve been supporters of our coverage at MSNBC. Hearing from you (whether positive or negative) is always an important thing for me.
So what’s next? Stay tuned!

In the meantime, I am going to be spending the holidays with my husband and family.
From our family to yours…

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & Happy New Year,

-Thomas

In truth, that particular time slot has been very difficult for the news network to find solid footing.

For the past few years many hosts and anchors have shifted around as MSNBC tried to figure out how to program the middle of the afternoon.

Roberts took over the two-hour show last year replacing the low-rated “Ronan Farrow Daily,” which, in my opinion, never worked.

The New York Post reports that Roberts will continue with MSNBC in a new role, while the network will rotate several of their on-staff anchors in the time slot.
