Seth Rudetsky deconstructs Barbra Streisand

Seth Rudetsky is a fabulous musician, music director, actor, radio show host and comedian.

I’ve known Seth for many years going back to 1991 when I worked on an off-Broadway show called PAGEANT with him.

Fast forward to today, and among many other things, Seth is famous for “deconstructing” performances from classic Broadway music recordings.

I’ve loved them for so long and decided The Randy Report readers might enjoy them too. So today I’m going to start with Seth – at the 2004 Gypsy of the Year fundraising event – deconstructing some of his favorite Barbra Streisand recorded moments.

Enjoy.

Broadway’s Christiane Noll – No Phantom, No problem

I love when theater people can laugh at themselves.

In this video, Christiane Noll (RAGTIME, CLOSER THAN EVER) tells the story of her first NY audition for Broadway’s “PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and how it went a bit wrong.

Then she sings the end of “Back To Before” from RAGTIME with a few ‘extra’ notes. Stay on for the last note. Pretty funny…

Big Time Rush beats One Direction in Parade Magazine poll

Big Time Rush, on the cover of Parade Magazine, beat out One Direction in the magazine’s first “boy band” poll.

Back in the 90s, I was a big fan of the “boy band” music with 98 Degree, N’Sync and Backstreet Boys. I’m not as familiar with the new crop of bands, although from what I’ve been hearing I thought One Direction was pretty much the top dog these days. Guess I was wrong…

Any “boy band” fans out there?
