Vanessa Williams on QVC tonight with her new skincare line ReVistalistic

Hollywood spotlight aside, Vanessa Williams is a mother, homework fact-checker, grocery shopper, carpool driver, gym-goer  who – like many of us – never seems to have enough time in a day. And busy lifestyles often can take a toll on our skin, and Vanessa is no exception.

Vanessa launched her own skincare line on QVC in August with the debut of the Re-Start Skin Serum (QVC Item #A228178), which is exclusive to QVC through December 2012.

Since the launch ReVitalistic Skincare has become a Top Product on QVC with over 40 5-star reviews.

I’ve personally tried the Skin Serum and I have to say it really helps my 49 year old skin look better, feel smoother and just plain healthier.

I know a lot of people may think “But Vanessa has always been beautiful.”   ReVitalistic Skincare is inspired by Williams’ personal battles with skin problems throughout her life. Today, her skin is in great shape and she wants to share her secrets. The line aims to provide real solutions for real women and includes products with the best-quality ingredients and the most user-friendly approach to beautiful skin.

Don’t miss Vanessa tonight, Friday, September 21, 2012 during QVC’s “Friday Night Beauty” at 11pmEST.

Days Of Our Lives getting gay romantical

The long-brewing romance between Will (Chandler Massey) and Sonny (Freddie Smith) is about to get official with a kiss on tomorrow’s Days of Our Lives.

Sweet.

I have to say: 20 years ago this would have made me happy but uncomfortable in how America would react to this.  Now it just makes me smile and get all happy.

Paris Hilton apologizes for anti-gay cab ride remarks

Paris Hilton has issued an apology to GLAAD, “from the bottom of my heart” for comments made during a cab ride: “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS,” before adding, “I would be so scared if I were a gay guy. You’ll like, die of AIDS.”

As anyone close to me knows, I always have been and always will be a huge supporter of the gay community. I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans and their families with the comments heard this morning. I was having this private conversation with a friend of mine who is gay and our conversation was in no way towards the entire gay community. It is the last thing that I would ever want to do and I cannot put into words how much I wish I could take back every word.

HIV/AIDS can hurt anyone, gay and straight, men and women. It’s something I take very seriously and should not have been thrown around in conversation.

Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know. It is so wrong when people bully or put down others for being gay. No one should have to go through that. Again, I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart and I feel absolutely horrible. I hope that everyone can accept my apology and know that it is not who I am or how I feel in any way.

Thank you for taking a minute to read this, I love you.

There you go. She loves us. Like, for reals.

Except in private when she’s being herself.

Trailer: Lindsay Lohan in “Liz & Dick”

So my only interest in this TV movie, after all the life drama La Lohan has been through in the tabloids is “can she act”? I think we’ve all kind of forgotten what it was that brought Lindsay to celebrity. I honestly can’t remember if she was ever really any good at this acting thing or not.

Plus, I like the whole Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton legend. So I’m curious to see how that gets played out.

We’ll see.

Shirtless Tim Tebow photoshoot by Annie Leibowitz

I like the pic.  Bravo Annie Leibowitz!
Tim Tebow appears shirtless and in need of a tow truck in a provocative Vogue spread shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.
In one picture, the New York Jets backup quarterback is shown wheeling a gigantic tire through a rocky ravine.
Tebow is profiled in the October issue of the magazine by Taylor Antrim. The headline of the story is “Superman Returns.”

Why you should go to the doctor when something hurts…

I spent the morning checking Michael into the hospital for an exploratory surgery related to a pain he’s had since January.

For several months Michael has complained about a pain in his abdomen.  First thoughts and opinions were “oh, it’s a kidney stone.”  So he drank a ton of water and cranberry juice for weeks.  No improvement.

Next, there was thought about something internal.  So he had a colonoscopy.  Nothing there.

Then, it was decided that maybe he has “chronic appendicitis.’  OK.

So today Michael went in for exploratory surgery and what they found wasn’t anything we expected: a hole in Michael’s abdominal wall.  The appendix didn’t look good either, so that was removed but this “hole in the wall” thing was very unexpected.  The surgeon was able to address the issue and fix, and Michael will be fine soon.

BUT – this would not have healed itself.  I bring this up because too many times a lot of us – including me – put off going to a doctor even though something aches or doesn’t feel right.  If Michael hadn’t gone in today, this would have continued and possibly gotten worse.

When I was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, it was after four months of an ache I’d had.  I kept thinking it would clear up.  Boy was I wrong.

So when something feels wrong, give your body a chance to address it but don’t wait so long that something serious can get worse.  You never know…
