Andre Brown Jr., 33, was arrested on Sunday, May 3, in Florida for brutally beating a 5-year-old boy.
Brown reportedly told deputies that he abused the child because of his sexual orientation, claiming he would “beat the gay out of him if possible.” Brown now facing charges of aggravated child abuse and resisting arrest.
Due to Brown maliciously beating the child and causing a fracture to his right wrist for the belief of being gay, this crime is classified as a hate crime.

My favorite thing today – check out this talented acrobatic dance duo, FreeAcro Souls, performing a balancing act to “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman.
All of their flips and twirls are very musically in sync with the track, and you must wait for the very special guest star to appear at the end.
This was the routine that won the duo this year’s edition of Got Talent Portugal. That performance is below as well, but I think the spontaneity of the outdoors makes the first clip even better.

It’s a big day in the theater world as the nominations for the 79th Annual Tony Awards were announced this morning.
Twenty-four shows were honored with at least one nomination.
Schmigadoon! and The Lost Boys were the most nominated shows of the year, with 12 nominations each. They are closely followed by Ragtime (11), Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman (9), Cats: The Jellicle Ball (9), Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show (9).
Special shout-out to June Squibb who made Tony history by becoming the oldest actor to receive a nomination, at the age of 96 for her performance in Marjorie Prime.
The play Liberation by Bess Wohl is having an especially good week. On Monday, it won the Pulitzer, and today it was nominated for a Tony for Best New Play.
The 79th Annual Tony Awards will broadcast live on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The main ceremony airs at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on the CBS Television Network and will stream live for subscribers on Paramount+. Now there are reports – confirmed by a Health and Human Services spokesman – that officials at the Food and Drug Administration have blocked publication of multiple studies showing the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 and other vaccines. Yesterday I reported that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) had quickly signed into law a new aggressively gerrymandered electoral map following last week’s Supreme Court ruling that kneecapped the Voting Rights Act.
Experts say the new map makes it likely that four districts currently held by Democrats would flip to Republicans.
