Golden Globe nominations 2012 – Full list

From the Hollywood Reporter: On the film side, the HFPA favored Oscar frontrunners like The Artist, The Descendants and The Help, while giving due notice to George Clooney’s political thriller The Ides of March, largely ignored on the critics and awards circuit up to this point.

The Artist led film nominations with six, while The Descendants and The Help followed with five. The Ides of March, Moneyball and Midnight in Paris each snagged four noms.

Downton Abbey and Mildred Pierce led the television side in nominations with four apiece, with Boardwalk Empire, Modern Family and Homeland following close behind. Surprises included recognition for Ryan Gosling for both Crazy Stupid Love and Ides of March, Revenge actress Madeleine Stowe and Necessary Roughness star Callie Thorne.

I’m thrilled my personal favorite “The Help” is being recognized for it’s exceptional achievement.  If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you do.

Fox News fail – misleading graph shows unemployment wrong

Man, just look at that graph from Fox News. Unemployment is just steady and not falling, right?

Or actually – it is. It’s just Fox News decided to show the last month’s number of 8.6% as the same as the previous month’s 9.0%

I’m sure it was just an “accident” – right?

Human Rights Campaign: ‘Buying for Workplace Equality Guide 2012’

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC), yesterday released the popular guide to hundreds of American brands rated on businesses’ treatment of LGBT employees. “Buying for Workplace Equality 2012” divides businesses and their consumer products into red, yellow and green categories based on their score on HRC Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index.

The index is a nationally recognized benchmark of LGBT inclusion. The guide is available for download and viewing online at www.hrc.org/BuyersGuide.

“The holiday buying season is upon us and this year we again have the chance to send a message to businesses that we are watching,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese. “Fair-minded consumers who care about how a company treats their LGBT employees have a powerful tool in the Buying for Workplace Equality Guide.”

“This is our community’s chance to vote with our dollars and send America’s businesses a clear message that equal treatment of LGBT employees is good for the bottom line. Especially in today’s economy, equality is good business.” said Solmonese.
